Like most in this hobby I got started in the mid 80’s with a Tamiya Hornet I received as a Christmas present.
My mom work for MRC in Woodbridge NJ as a result I had the fortune to be able to purchase cars direct at discounted prices.
As a teen I took a job at the local hobby shop and branched out into other manufactures cars and began local hobby racing.
When I hit 18 real cars and girls took over, I seem to remember the Mud Blaster as the last kit I purchased for some time.
My interest rekindled when the Wild Willy 2 was released; at that point I started to collect cars I had previously owned that I could afford.
Unfortunately I never kept any of my original cars; usually I purchased a kit, built it, evaluated it and quickly sold it at the hobby shop where I worked.
So unlike some others on this site I love the re-release models as it has brought prices into what the average guy can afford.
I current own a Lancia Rally, Wild Willy I, Hornet, Grasshopper, Frog, Blackfoot, Midnight Pumpkin, Wild Willy II & a Super Clod Buster.
Future purchases will include the Avante & Fast Attack.
I also own several different variations of Associated RC10’s still my favorite off-road buggy.
My 5 year old son currently drives a Traxxas stampede as it is virtually indestructible but I do let him run my vintage Tamya’s under supervision.
