Hey Crash, I am still debating whether it sees water again. The 'monitor' in front of the engine is actually the air inlet scoop for the supercharger. On the airplanes (P-51, Spitfire) the scoop would be turned to face forward, and inverted, so it grabbed air just below the propeller (that small scoop on the P51, not the large one under the wing). On the boats, they turneed the scoop backwards so that water would not get injested into the engine. All Merlin powered boats have the scoop, and on the Atlas Van Lines, you can see the scoop sticking up out of the cowling just behind the drivers head

You are correct FnF. I ordered a new dremel bit, because if you use the wrong one, it will ball up the melted plastic. A sharp cutting ball will make clean cuts and allow me to get crisp edges around the catwalks. Good eye...

Please send me all that you can about it! I am thinking about using my old GWM FD36/7LS in it. It is a dynosaur, but the sound from that old turbine still rivals all of the new ones. All of my newer KJs and the Super Bee sound sterile compared to that thing. You can almost hear the inefficiencies in the FD, and I think 7 1/2 pounds is enough to shove it along at 50ish. Its either that, or a 17lb thrust RAM750 (0 starts) which I think will be too heavy and too powerful for the boat. It may be slower with the FD, but I think it will be very rewarding. Let me know what you think, or if it can absorb the weight and thrust of the larger engines.

Thanks Sticker. I ordered one from Speedline, so we'll see how things go. I've got a few spare turbines that could find a home in it. Yours is gorgeous. Have you run it yet? I have seen a few vids on Youtube, and it seems like the ones where I can see the engine bay have the turbine all the way under the fin. Isn't yours mounted forward with a thrust tube? I am anxious to get it. Best regards

By all means, drop by. I am only about 2 hours from the Rat's Nest. Reeves definately made an executive decision and changed the color of the car. They mixed a special color, and even included the code in the paperwork, in case you ever needed to repaint it, or spot it in. It took bravery to order one, and there were only two ever built in this color. This one, and an export car that went overseas. If you think this color was odd, check out Otis Chandler's Electric Green C8!!

The color is actually nicer than the stock Teal color. These pics were taken by the original owner, who lived in Mass. It has never seen a salty road, and only has 6600 on the clock. I'll get some good pics once its complete, and get them all together as well.

Hello Crash, thanks for the words. It is kind of ironic, but the other 94 convertible is....you guessed it: Turquois! Actually, when Callaway built an Aerobody car, they would repaint it a color that they thought was more suitable than the original color in some cases. In the case of the C8, they repainted the car a custom color that was related to the original aqua color, but I think it is actually nice. I'll post it here, but soon create another page for it. It is currently having some work done.

Thanks for the comments. I stumbled onto these cars by accident. My father collected Callaway Twin Turbo Vettes back in the late 80s, and early 90s. Then in 1999, he got a Callaway Camaro, which I had never even heard of, and I ended up loving the car. I eventually bought that one from him, and have 5 others.

This one is the first of only 6 1994 C8s built, and one of 2 convertibles. I have both 94 convertibles, and a 95 T-top, and a 95 roll bar coupe. The 1995 coupe is a 6 speed, stripped car with only go-fast options. I love that one. Lastly, I have a 95 convertible and a 96 coupe that are the exact same Polo Green color, with the same OZ Callaway Wheels. They are neat cars, and Callaway only made 18 of them in the 3 year production run, so hopefully, keeping them all of these years will pay off one day!

He is definately the coolest Dad ever!! He was very successful back in the day, but always put his family first. We always had a blast as a family, and I have the fondest memories of doing wacky things together. He had a great car collection, and I enjoyed working on many of them from when I was 10 all the way through high school. He also got me started in RC by getting me the Willy's Honda City Turbo in 85 or 86. He bought it beautifully built RTR from Orange Blossom Hobbies, and on its first run, I raced my friend's 82 Camaro, and it went under the tire. I was devistated. My dad called Orange Blossom (two hours away) and had them stay open so he could drive down and buy another kit. We built a new one out of the two together, which I guess was better than just an RTR, because we also got the quality time together. I still have it, and the right front tire still does not match (I never painted it silver to match, we were just in a hurry to see it run again. He has set the bar high, and I try to be the best dad I can be. I have a little boy due in 25 days named after my dad. Little Glen is going to have lots of Tamiyas to play with!!

You will never believe this, but my father owned the real Jagermeister Porsche 934 back in the day. I remember riding in it on Powerline road when my faher was prepping it for the 1980 24 Hours of Daytona. It was purchased from Max Moritz Racing in Germany, and it was white with light blue and orange stripes. Weralit was the sponsor then, and the car won the German Sprint Car Championship. It was chassis number 0168. We painted it black and ran it in Sprint setup, still as car #24. In sprint trim, we were running 4th overall at the 16 hour mark, but the car required frequent pit stops to keep fresh drivers. Jack Reffening, Wren Tilton, and Ray Mummary were the drivers, and while the car was a handful, it was beating the 935s out there running a more relaxed setup. Unfortunately, Jack decided to stay out for 2 consecutive sessions, and lost the car coming onto the front stretch. It hit the wall, and retired after 16 hours. I remember (10 yrs old) watching the rest of the morning as the car number 24 slowly worked its way off of the leader tower. My dada sold the car to Jack, who used the parts on a 911 RSR for Sebring, until he fixed 0168 and sold it back to Germany. It is currently restored back into its correct and original Jager livery. I miss that car. Anthony

They are fun once you learn to dial them in. They key to these cars is tires. With cold or bad tires, these cars are undrivable, but once you get some heat in them, they are fun to drive. I too have seen mt buddy's 5th scale hit a curb, and it was not pretty. It looked and sounded like a real car accident. Pieces and wheels went flying off down the road, and it slid along the curb dragging parts with it. Seeing something like that makes you want to be a better driver, or a better spender!

Thanks guys. Yes, the Sabers are my favorite 50s era planes. They have a great stance and fly great as well. Unfortunately, my collectionof planes is too large to fit in a cabinet. In fact, I only have the 'small' planes photographed. The big ones will not fit through the garage door. They all live out there, and I have one small room dedicated to all of the planes pictured on this site. They are small enough to stand on theie noses along the wall. I like the glass case idea though! I better discuss that one with my wife....

Actually, the retractable landing gear and doors are neumatic powered, but yes, they retract and cycle just like the real plane. The operating canopy opens by air pressurized cylinders also. Hydraulics are too heavy for a model plane, so the wheel brakes, landing gears and door, and any other function normally operated by hydraulkics on the real planes are replicated with air pressure. There is a pressurized air resevoir that feeds all of the systems on the plane, and a complex valve to cycle the doors properly. When you select 'UP' for the gears, the gear retracts slowly, and twists 90' like the real thing to fold up into the well. Once the gear retracts, the valve triggers the doors to close in a scale manner as well. The gears lock in the up and down positions to prevent them from collapsing on hard landings. These planes are well engineered. Enjoy!

Thanks for the nice comments. The jets are indeed cool, especially the real turbines. I have found it harder to enjoy them lately, as they take an amazing amount of time and maintanance, almost like the real thing. But they still look awesome, whether cutting holes in the sky, or sitting still. Now if I had a vintage Blazer, I'd put it in first, and tow this thing out of the hangar....

Thanks. With the correct setup, these cars are absolutely great to drive. They are only a handfull if they are not setup correctly. I take great care in making sure the cambers match from side to side, and that the suspension is evenly sprung. It will make a huge difference. The tires on this car are old Kyosho Superten wheels. They were off of a Porsche, so they kind of look correct, although in reality, this car never ran production style wheels- I use them because the stagger is great for this body! Regards
