mongoose1983: Serious luck. rather serious.
Very nice find. It's an older tamiay model, as evidenced by the plastic gears in the gearboxes, a very nice find for the frog. It might be worth investigating the futaba rx, if you can get RC eqt compatible with it you will have a spare rx for another tank ;). The RX should have the operatting freq stamped on it somewhere, try pulling the xtal and see what the numbers are on it. Brilliant. Much more stable in the bends than the version with wheels. :)

MadInventor: Gravel hound vs concrete block
Amazingly, the suspension arms and uprights are undamaged. The part of the chassis that the lower wishbone connects to was ripped out of the chassis, but otherwise no damage. I was lucky that I was speeding from a standing start a few metres away. If I'd hit it at top speed (50mph) it would have torn the car in half and caused the LiPo to explode, as it hit on the battery side. Lucky escape, only need to buy a new chassis as I have spare dogbones.

sludgeguts: Obscenely large monster
Missing it already ;). Bodyshell looks great on it. If you want to make it go faster, a cheaper way than buying 2 more motors is to use a 10.8V pack. I made one by splitting a 7.2 in half, then adding the half to an existing 7.2 in 'triangle' formation, like a large version of the rockbuster packs. Of course, 3S LiPo (11.1V) is also a good option. The motors aren't rated for this voltage, but they are cheap to replace, and I've not blown one up yet :)

Renco5012: The mobile doorstop, wedge on wheels, fugly wagon...
Nice find. I think these are good cars too (Bodyshell aside ;) ). The chap you bought it off had a wierd suspension setup though, rock hard on the front with 2 and half spacers, and nothing on the back. Perhaps the front spring is non standard and needed the extra preload perhaps.. Anyway, nice find, although I think they look better with a clear window and a driver figure.

MadInventor: My txt collection
@R/CVet The chameleon motors came with the truck when I bought it second hand. Running on an 8.4V battery they are probably not far off as fast as I would want to go. However, I have a Juggernaut 2 with silver can motors that I run on a 10.8V battery which is slightly faster. Gives a slightly better performance but much cheaper (I split up 1 7.2V battery and added an extra 3 cells along the top of another to make a 10.8 'triangle' pack). I'm also looking at a 2000KV Ezrun brushless system for 1/8 trucks (Motor is larger than a 540 but has the same mounting holes). Wondering whether it will give a performance increase over silver cans though.

Stickman: 4 link clod :)
Like the bodyshell, and the way you've done the 4 links. You might find the steering suffers due to the castor angle of the axle uprights now though. Possible lengthen the bottom rods a bit with spaces at the axle end ?

JWeston: Early hotshot
Very nice. Hotshot gets my vote for most iconic tamiya. Re the resistors, I bought a hotshot in I think 1985 in the UK, and it had the later bumper of the MK2, but the floaty resistors, so perhaps it was an interim model before the filled in resistors were introduced.

That looks great. I wish I had your patience and attention to detail. It's surprising how long it takes to add all those finishing touches though.

MadInventor: Entwicklung e25
Thanks for the comments guys. This is one of my 'long term' ideas, so will probably stay as 1/35 scale for the time being. It would make a very nice 1/16 model though. The suspension is mounted on the outside of the hull, which would make it very easy to waterproof. I also like the fact it is a smaller tank with wide tracks.

beefmuffin: New mad bull built last night
These things are great bashers. many years ago I ran one with a 13 or 14 double motor on a 9.6V battery and could get over 50mph out of it. Was a pig to get moving till I locked the diff though, as I was still using the 3 step MSC ata the time :). Oil shocks are a must if you want to go fast.

IBIFTKH: Wild max willy climber!
Very cool. When I got a TLT I fitted a lunch box shell on it to start with. I used Mad Bull rear wheels all round to put some larger tyres on it. Possibly something to consider to make the body look not quite so high off the chassis. They're also wider so give the car a bit more stability in the corners. Looks very nice as it is though. Camo job looks excellent.
