Tamiya released this one in 1983 based on the pick-up truck that was launched by the legendary Japanese company SUBARU the year before.

This will be of help to anybody building a Subaru Brat.

What a great lil' 4x4 truck!

This was my 1st R/C car in the 80s and it looked so cool! A big pick up' mean looking!! A mate of mine lived on a farm and his dad had a real subaru and i wanted to see it as my R/C truck looked so big and mean but when he pulled up it looked pants compaired to the car i had! so as a kid just told him it looks pants I said !! he said look at this lad and off he whent! Wow this thing could go off road thats for sure i did not see how to look at it at the time but he shut me up! Sliding up this field he whent an then back down over some fair bumps it was sure a hard as nails truck. It sucks to be wrong when we were kids!! Still see some of these about today full of dents and covered in mud but still going! Good find mongoose1983 and what a great 4x4.

this is some great info on the brat erich. its strange to look at some off the features as they are the same features on my impreza estate. like the hill holder on the clutch and the dual range gears. how bizarre. nice bit of info will be keeping this for refs. cheers

A great lil' 4x4 truck indeed. I still wouldn't mind owning a real one! But with bigger, better wheels
