description  This buggy was given to me by a mate of mine, Dan, who races at the same club as I. One day after a race meet, the subject of vintage RC came up and Dan says '...you like old Tamiya's don't you? I have a box of old gear around the house somewhere that you are welcome to have if you want it...' Damn right I want it. So at the next race meet Dan pulls an old polystyrene 'fruit box' out of the boot of his car that is packed full of well used gear. I can instantly see a Boomerang and a Hot Shot and a few spare chassis among the massive amounts of arms/screws/diffs/gearbox housings etc. In reading this, you are probably thinking 'that's awesome!'. I agree it is, but to put this box full of goodies in perspective, Dan is a racer (a bloody good one too). He has been a racer since he was a kid and the Tamiyas were a bit of a transitionary phase for him until he got into the competitive Yokomo gear. So, in an effort to extract as much performance from his Tamiya buggies he lightened them up. The way in which they were lightened was with a power drill. All of the chassis had dozens and dozens of drill holes through them to extract maximum power to weight ratios. This wasn't just the chassis lightened up, Dan also went to town on the arms or any other part that looked like it needed a hole drilled into it. It was hilarious stripping the buggies down then reviewing the swiss cheese chassis. This obviously led to a new chassis, which led to a new front bumper, body set, arms, wheels, tyres....the list goes on. Ultimately, I suspect there might be very little of the original buggy gifted to me left in what we see here. I do love the old Hot Shot though. Like my Super Champ and my frog it reminds me of childhood memories. I built a Hot Shot for a kid that lived down the road from me back in 1986. He was a few years younger than I, and his dad gave me $50 to build the buggy as he didnt think he could do it himself. $50 to do something I thoroughly loved doing, that was a massive amount of money back in the day! I felt like a king! I always intended to get a HS one day after that. Special memories.

@CrashCramer....Take a look at the Boomerang to see what I mean. I had already picked out the HotShot stuff when that photo was taken. leaving only the Boomerang related gear, but you will get the idea.
