| description | Hi ALL, this Sand-Scorcher was won on evil-bay. As you can see from the pics there is a little work to be done to bring it back from deaths door. At present i have removed all the decals, parts and the horible thirty year dirt and grim.
Have purchased some graffiti cleaner after reading avery good thread on TC by j-man. hope to start the paint stripping the weekend.
Will keep you posted of progres, thanks for looking.

Huys/Gals i no some pepole spend time trying to creat the grimmy old look but theres rough and there rough. Still very unsure of the paint secheme, not sure if to go for box art as this is what i remember for child hood (years ago) or go for some thing clean and tidy. The body has been rolled a number of times so alot of filling and sanding ahead.
I love old Scorchers like this. With all the muck dirt and random stickers it looks like a proper Baja racer. If it was me I'd just clean and re-grease the chassis and leave as is! Doing a boring box art resto would kill it imo.
I love the old platina of this car. In a way I think you should keep it like this, showing us all that this is in fact a 30 year old car with great running history in the past, and not a 2010 re-re which looks brand new....But I would probably have restored it to mint condition myself if I found one like this
IBIFTKH no worries, i probably paid a little to much for her but dosen't that always happen, the old girl will (crossing fingers) come back to life
I saw this on the bay, might even have bid against you (sorry!). Looking forward to seeing the old girl come back to life.
Thanks again to all that have commented and viewed. slimmy fingers crossed it turns out good
wow...that's a real veteran!....
Can't wait to see it done !!! VERY NICE !!!!
WOW!! i love the look of this thing she looks mean!!!!!! very rally
I love this Scorchy as it is
Take your time with the resto - it will be a lovely journey
Well...It looks like you got your work cut out for you. but I have seen these in worse condition and then seen them turned into works of art. Looks like a fun challenge!
If you put the HB back on the Club tomorrow you know I will have a lot to say about this Great buggy!!
Guys many thanks for the coments so far, i have certainly got my work cut out on this one. MAD-BEE many thanks for the heads up i noticed the HB disapeared so will edit the thread tomorrow and re-upload. The previous owner decided to add rubber stops over certain parts of the car as you can see from the bumper, these have now been removed toreveal the original black bumper. ShayD your not wrong about the decals they where also plastered on the inside aswell. sludgeguts yep onother from Northampton.
Wow! that's a very cheeky looking mkI ... I'd like to get my mitts on that ... looks like the previous owner had a novel approach to decalling ...
Just a small bit of advice buddy make sure you only show one car on the same night as the second car pushes the first car of the Tamiya front page and us guys can miss them! I would be mad if no one told me this as its nice to get comments and advice on your gear! Cheers My friend. Love the Scorcher its got History written all over it!!
cor blimey she is grimy, looks like shes been lost wandering in the desert for 30 years, the shot of the front tells it all, looks like a great project she looks in good shape under the dirt looking forward to the updates. If it ain't rubbin......
You Know this looks Fantastic like it is in a museun kind of way!!!
