| description | Finally finished my Vanquish and I'm very happy with it. I bought two cars originally - one from axemandavva and another off Ebay. The Ebay car was in good condition but had lot's of parts missing, the one I got from Dave was well used but complete ... neither car had a shell. I bought a TBG Vanquish repro shell, a set of tyres, original decal set and a new set of screws. I also got a set of Avante shocks thru Ebay (I think from a TC member) and a Technigold motor that was fitted to my Egress. The last thing I bought was an original tool bag for the motor plate and resistor cage and a few other useful bits ... unfortunately the rubber switch cover included had perished into a blob. All the parts went through the sonic bath and after inspecting the pile for the best parts I had the makings of quite a nice car. It's nearly box-art except for the canopy which I painted gold to key in with the Avante shocks and Technigold motor. The chassis is fully ball-raced, but apart from that the gear boxes are stock. I've had this running but only up and down the hall-way! I have a driver for this, but may not fit it ... The TBG shell comes with an Astute wing (as advertised), whch is a bit poor, so that is why I haven't applied the wing decals - I'm waiting to get the right wing or an alloy from Ebay. Glad to have this finished, the build suffered a number of frustrating delays, but I enjoyed it and I really recommend the Vanquish as a restore project. Thanks guys, comments welcome ...

That's a great looking Vanquish
Thanks for the kind comments, I think this may be my favourite restoration so far. I've just bought a set of worn Vanquish wheels and tyres which I might fit to give it a light run. I'm pleased to have had the use of a decent camera for the pics this time too! ...
Axemandavva is a dude and it's always nice to see his great deals pop up on here. You've done wonders with this peach of a tamiya design. Such a cool buggy and yours looks ace. Great job!
Very nice restoration, great result with the gold finish!
@ spudtrooper37 ... yes I see what you mean ... The carbon chassis would be a nice box-stock addition for a re-re. I'd like to fit the Egress chassis to this but they are sooooooooo expensive! @ M-B thanks mate! THE VANQUISH - A LEGEND! ...
Great buggy, looking good
Nice example, i remember having a set of those wheels on my Avante, with the Vajra comingsoon and using Vanquish parts a re-re could around the corner
Excellent ShayD! Great work and i like to see a bit of gold on these cars!! Very smart mate.
heh ... time plays tricks with the memory ...
Also forgot to mention, in 1st post that the Guy selling the Vanquish bodyset on ebay had in his listing 'Been in my collection for over 10 years', funny as i only sold it to him 4.5yrs earlier lol.
I think he just buys what he sees looking at his purchase history, maybe he will get around to buying another vanquish bodyset one day and making a wing, although with Tamiya seemingly all over repro stuff maybe not (but then again he looks like he aint been touched lol)
Thanks for the comments, guys. @Tamiyoman that's an interesting story, I guess his budget didn't run to finding another wing - pity. I have an original wing off axeman's car, but it's taken an awful lot of hits ...
Sweet! The Vanquish buggy is such a beautiful unsung legend.
sharp looking machine!
Very nice job , Now get it dirty LOL . Must have had cleaning hours put into it . Fantastic clean car .
About 5 years back I sold a NIB vanquish bodyset to a chap in USA it was complete except for the wing (missing when i got it, so I scribbled on the side of the box 'Missing Wing' so as to make sure i remembered to list it like that). Anyhow last year I was browsing fee-pay (as we do) and spotted a vanquish NIB bodyset for sale (No mention of missing wing in advert) and i opened the pics and lo and behold it has 'Missing wing' scribbled on side of box, no prizes for guessing who bought that exact bodyset and the reason why your vanquish is wearing an astute (53055) hop up wing. Cheers
Wow!!
Nice work, looks good.
the colour of the wheels is deceptive ... they were cleaned up and then painted in cream gloss enamel. It's a very warm white and the wheels are actually very shiny
Very nice job, I bet you have had a blast time. Really like the golden top, does matching with the shocks. Considering a new wheels? Hmm, I can't find time to restore mine, I have all parts ready!
Now that`s looking very sweet
Looks real good with the Avante shocks and gold window trim. I acquired a NIB Vanquish a while back which kick-started my collection.
Nice one !
