description  Hopefully this will be of use to someone

Bought both of these cheap with broken torsion bars so was looking for a fix before I did any serious restoring.

Jonny Retro offered a suggestion using plasticard which I liked the look of but wanted to retain the original look of the car.

Had a bit of a play and a development of the idea and came up with this. Basically used 1mm clear lexan sheet which I cut at two different widths (wide rear and narrow front) then simply threaded it through the existing suspension and it worked like a charm! Barely visible and works perfect, I'm going to keep them both like this so I can run them without fear of breaking torsion bars

Have also reconstructed the Cheetah shell which has improved it no end. Thanks for looking...

I think I have a copy of that 4WD conversion that gr2fltp mentioned from the original RC model cars magazine !! very cool cars, great to see them as runners...

One of the XR311's was the first ever Tamiya I saw in flesh probably 34 years ago. I didn't understand the suspension then (too young) so I'm not quite sure whats you done, but the stance on both cars looks great now. Great to hear they are runners.
