description  Hi all, I bought this as an almost complete original hotshot, missing most suspension parts and a few more here and there. I took it apart, cleaned, repaired and put in back together again with new bearings and a SuperStock motor. I died the wheels black which my first experience dying anything. Stunk the kitchen out but I like the black wheels. I 'borrowed' the few parts I needed to complete this from my re re hotshot, obvioulsy including the body and re re decals. Is a pure runner so I wasn't bothered about the spit and polish, nor the re re decals managed to find time to do the tire lettering though. Love this car, it was always one of my faves as a kid ( not that I had one)... Great build too. Cheers Paul

I boiled water and added powdered dye, reduced to just below a simmer. Plopped the wheels in and made sure they were submerged. I stirred every now and again and left them in there for maybe 40 mins Add salt and a splash of sherry… wait.. no.. I took em out with long nose pliers and rinsed under running cold water. The dye seemed to seep out for next couple of hours. Rinsed a couple of times and didn’t let the water/ dye pool on the wheels for too long so I got even finish.

Looks great! Can you provide just a bit more info regarding how you dyed the wheels? I have never done it and want to be succesful the first time! Thanks!

Cheers guys. Yes, she needs the bumper attaching. I used Rit- Dye for the wheels. It took really well to the white parts. I tried my luck at dying the red plastic to black but no go!. Steve, uh oh mate! I bought a cheapo saucepan just for this!

Nice job Paul, great to hear its a runner. The wife went crazy first time I tried dying.. I used the wrong saucepan.
