description  Here's part 2 of my Axial SCX10 project. Nothing went right with the paint. I thought I had added plenty of coats of yellow, but apparently not enough. The black backing started to come through in certain places. Then, to make matters worst, when I tried to Shoe Goo the window netting (which I've done successfully before post-paint) started to react with the paint creating a mess. So, after some strategic, if not 'pretty' decal placement, I just had to consider this stage complete and chalk the frustration up to a learning experience. Anyway, still to come: lights, additional scale details, interior and Grayson Hunt installed in his driver seat.

What a mess, even the netting is off center

Probably my favorite feature -- the SC8 cage

Thanks def, yellowscott and 3spd REKR. This baby will be receiving some changes/adjustments this weekend. The light bar will be changed to the six wide version (from my DT02 trophy truck), the front axle will be getting overdrive gears for more wheel speed and turning radius, and I'll be adding a Traxxas Titan 12t motor. This truck is so fun to drive on the trails.

Great truck and very nice work, but this truck deserves a hard body shell!

Nice work. Put some driving scratches on it & you will forget the(barely) noticeable blemishes. Looks great!!!

Cool looking rig. I tend to beat myself up on stuff too, paint is the worst. Nice unique project I think.

Thanks everyone! @gozone, I vaguely remember the '55 Chevy kit. I'll have to do a search on that one. @Dante77, thanks mate! I'll have to explore the Blackfoot grille idea. Part of me is scared to do more cutting. @Wyoming/Seth -- thanks. Much appreciated coming from the master. I plan to give it a good run this weekend and will take photos.

Wow, what an awesome looking truck! Those wheels are sweet! Can't wait to see it finished.
I wonder if the front would take a Blackfoot grille?

Well, despite the imperfections in the paint, this still looks rather good to me. Like the choice of colours also.. Looks like you got inspired by the old 'BADMAN' ´55 Chevy Gasser, available as a 1/24th scale kit from Monogram.

Thanks guys! Your comments and support are much appreciated. Thank goodness for the Axial Dingo kit decal sheet, because I found an even better solution instead of the XXX Main decals. I'll try to take another picture or two of that. Oh, the wheels are Gear Head 1.9 aluminum beadlocks. They are amazing wheels, but pricey.

I know exactly how you feel. I don't think I've ever executed a perfect paint and decal job. There's always a run under some piece of tape, or a dirt fleck in the middle of some pearl white, a decal that's crooked by 2 degrees, or something else. What frustrates me is I know exactly why it went wrong in hindsight. Frankly, your truck looks very good to me. It has the right stance, the right attitude, the right presence overall. The chassis, wheels, tires, cage, and lights are all excellent. If you're not 100% happy with the details, consider getting another HPI shell and taking another crack at it using what you learned on this one. I don't think I would, especially if it will be run. I like Skottoman's 80/20 rule.
