description  My son and I often race our models indoors at home. We wanted a way of protect the cars from hitting the walls. We visited our local hardware store, and bought some foam/rubber pipe-insulation and some plastic tubing. The plastic tube is cut into short 20cm lengths, and is pushed into the ends of the insulation section to join them together. This give you perfect invisible/clean joins, and the whole thing can be easily pulled apart for storage. The whole track is quick to assemble, and can be laid in any configuration. For the sharp corners, I bought some right-angle metal brackets, and used tape to secure the insulation/foam to the brackets. The cars or now protected (so is the house) and it gives you the feeling you are racing on a track. The photo show a few of our Tamiya Tamtech cars.

Houses within Australia are built, very much open-plan (no doorways between the main living rooms). Photo is taken roughtly where we sit, and the other 50% of the track comes around into another room (to the left of photo), where we turn back down to complete a lap. The 1/12 Tamtech models make for great in-door runners - super quiet. Both models shown were upgraded with the SPT tamtech motors - Much Faster than stock motors, almost too much for indoor racing !!!

Looks like fun and like you actually have enough room to drive inside, nice safety measure for the house to.

Wow, carpet racing at home... Keep in mind not to use tyre additive there, or your wife will run away to buy a more healthy house...
