description  Part 2 - A look back into time, the continuation! - The Archives circa late 1995. Once the mid year season was over, I was adamant in improving my standing in club racing thus reconfiguring my FF into a TA02. I was working part time at a local hobby centre at the time and had plenty of access and 'mates rates' privileges so I was able to convert to TA02 using a left-overs from a massive parts bin and whatever I could transfer from the FF. I'm sure many who are in this club knows what I mean by 'parts bin' that many hobby centre's have and cheap surprises that could be scored. So naturally Touring had really picked up and parts were plentiful and cheap especially when one was on the other side of the fence. So for the new season my choice of body for the newly converted TA02 was the ST185 Castrol Celica. My former partner at the time had a GT4 Celica herself and I loved the sleek look with all them performance bulges that was synonymous with homologated rally cars of the time. At the time I was more into the 'street look' for racing but I also had other Celica show bodies (see Part3). The mods started off simple but as the new season went on, more and more mods were added. Equipment also received some improvements - as budget permitted got myself the then revolutionary Novak Racer and Hammer ESC that had the cool manually adjusted dial for power band control that tremendously improved tractability during hard acceleration that the newly upgraded to 10Turn Dyna Tech 02H rotor gave and new remote to name a few... Status: Body eventually destroyed in the name of racing, the TA02 would eventually spawn more mods as season went on and budget permitting of course! Keep posted on upcoming Part 3 - My show pony Celicas. Thanks for looking

@ Type49rs: I agree, even the quality of the polycarbonate is different too. Did a comparison between my last surviving Celica body shell against the re:re and there's a difference... Hang in there for Part 3! ;p

Just love the ST185. Mine was in the Castrol colours (like the one in the background in the first pic) but yours looks superb in the gunmetal, very scale and realistic.... unlike many of todays modern tourers that all look the same. Bring on part 3.

WOW! Thank you for taking the time to share these vintage pics; Love to see what it was like for other enthusiasts 'back in the day' and your pics tell the story well. Can't wait for the next installment!
