Reliving my childhood, almost
This was another TC trade. It was quite tidy but I can never leave anything alone, can I?!
It's a Wheeler shell on a WR02 chassis. Everything was stripped and cleaned and any damaged parts replaced. It has various alloy hop ups, full ballraces, steel pinion and nice shocks.
The body has had new paint and a few tweaks including scratch built interior and full lights. The glass isn't great but it's good enough.
I'm so pleased with the way this turned out. I had an original when I was a kid and loved it. I keep hoping Tamiya will re-release it, especially with the new WR02 models we've seen lately. Fingers crossed!
Cheers,
Rob

Looks the absolute business! All the details are spot on

Very nice WW, and I would be chuffed to if its re-released as I would run mine to the ground as i'm afraid of running a vintage!

Great work! It may have been quite tidy but it's perfect now after your tinkering
BiggusDitchus
Fantastic chap the wheels look so much better white than chrome. This has inspired me to source one myself although I have ideas for a different shell
MAD-BEE
This is class! Wicked!!
trf_414_m2
Awesome look with the front splitter in place... Fingers crossed for the re-release too.
Puffdog
One of my favorites!Everything just goes together perfectly.

Wow looks awesome

i hate to be a debby downer, but i just don't like the willy series. they just seem too cartoonish for my taste. i also don't like the holiday buggy b/c of that big dumb hat! i know, people love these... but they are wrong and i am right. by royal decree. and, Oi! you put the driver on the wrong side...
MAD-BEE
Royal decree my foot! Rob great Job pal and spot on for the driver on the right side for the UK!
beefmuffin
anyone know the history of why UK roads/drivers are on the wrong side? hint: it has to do with napoleon.
MAD-BEE
@Beefmuffin if i drove on the left it would be a illegal!! So the right is the right side of the road and as Robs WW is in the UK its the right side for the Driver figure too!! If you leave a comment for someone you can have your opinion but to leave all negative critisism and no positive for a model that someone has worked hard on is a bit sad!
Cheers MAD-BEE.
MAD-BEE
Sorry Rob to gate crash!! Awesome work buddy.

@ beefmuffin & MAD-BEE: Each to their own gentlemen! As we right-handers say the same thing the left-handers say about being on the wrong side of the road! Lols I guess that's what makes the world spin 'dizzily' around! And Tamiya had their reasons why they into'd Holi Buggy and WW to suit various niche markets hence why Tamiya was and still successful as they catered to our varied tastes... Hope that helps? Cheers
JWeston
Such an awesome Tamiya shell
beefmuffin
@MAD-BEE: you do realize i was joking, right? i'm not really that rude! i thought you brits had a wry sense of humor.
and i think rob did a fantastic job...looks like a storm trooper! but, it's just my taste that the willy drivers are too big and goofy looking. i realize i'm in the minority!
IBIFTKH
Well I didn't expect this to be controversial!
Thanks for all the kind comments, it's appreciated.
@beefmuffin, your comments made me laugh. We drive on the left because it's correct, not our fault if so many other countries get it wrong! Though I believe they drive on the left in Japan so the car would be correct for UK or its homeland.
I like the Willy series because they're cartoonish and fun but I can see how they don't appeal to everyone. Wouldn't it be boring if we were all the same?
And yes, I think it's one of the best shells T ever made
Olly_Lunchbox
I am really starting to love these, seeing quite a few original and conversions popping up on here lately and they are all making me envious - especially this beauty. You've done a great job on it.
I am also hopeful for a release of this on the WR02 chassis. The WR02 chassis is currently hugely popular in Japan and Tamiya have removed the link to the conversion on their own website so...who knows...finger's crossed!
lupogtiboy
I think this looks awesome! I must get one of these someday, hopefully they will re-re it! I believe we drive on the left as its to do with the fact that most people are right handed, and once on horseback, it keeps the right hand free to shake hands or hold a sword if required?
MAD-BEE
Rob do you intend to drive this cracker? if yes which side of the road will you use?
IBIFTKH
Yes I have driven it and will do again, but carefully! Which side of the road? Well, I pay road tax for all of it...
MAD-BEE
Nice answer!!
Cheers MAD-BEE
KEV THE REV
An excellent Wheeler . I hope they do re-re it as I need glass for mine - that interior is awesome , I need to build one right away !!
berman
I didn't think it would be possible to tastefully modify one of these, damn you proved me wrong! I LOVE it, I WANT it!
GingerSpice
Fantastic Wheeler, some great mods and something for Tamiya to ponder over
MAD-BEE
I Would love to see this beaut on the move with the lights set on Rob!
I do hope Tamiya re-re this! I have just enough room for one of these little crackers! you have given me the appitite for a Wheeler!!
I will leave you in peace now mate...cheers James.
acprc
I wish people would stop posting these Wheelers up, I can see a dent in the bank balance coming. Great job
IBIFTKH
@acprc, they are too nice to ignore, aren't they? That's why I'm hoping for a re-re, I'd love another! James, there's a build thread for this on the forum with a short indoor vid of the lights working.
RACECRAFTERS
Wicked Kewl on this little rice burner! Love the color simplicity and that spliter is ace! As for Willy - he's on the right side, even for Japan.
bjorklo
Nice car, and love the interior.. You did get your wish come through, about the re-release
