DT02 Event racer, but who's driving
As some of you may know 'Super gripper' has organised a full on race meeting for the 29th September. Based soley around the DT02 chassis.
I've never owned one of those and never been apart of a proper race meet. So I thought what the heck I'll give this a go.
The DT02 is Tamiya's entry level so everything is a very reasonable price, however I've been struggling lately (like many) but with some huge help from Rallyebaz, Stickerbod & BiggusDitchus I've managed to a get a 2010 Holiday Buggy ready for the event. I'm very excited about the race meet.
So before I go any further I have to say a massive THANK YOU to those boys for all their help and support.
Now the car, I knew that I'd need to be able to distinguish my car from all the others if I had any chance of getting around the track to the finish line. So I decided to have a fun approach to it
My head came up with blue and white checker pattern. Which has definately done its job, I should be able to spot it going round the track.
I also wanted to include my trade logo from my SRB bespoke tyre deals
Srb Bloke Racing 'SBR'
'BUT WHOSE WAS GOING TO DRIVE ?'
That was the next question. Toykid sent me one of his new Moto Willy heads, but I couldn't get it in to the original cockpit. So out came the styrene and after a few days I had it sorted, dropped the interior re-built Willy's arms, new steering wheel and rally style gear shift, fake seat and I was sorted.
We all know Willy has a bit of a reputation of being a rebel and you may notice he's trying every trick to try and win ;)
So I've finshed the car/scheme now, just need to run some power through it and make sure she runs ok.
I very excited about going to the race meet, and I really hope loads of you come too, we can meet and put faces to all those emails chats :)
As usual let me know your thoughts.... !! Apologises for picture quality, only had my phone with me.
ps. that yellow tape has been removed, I put it on purely to spot the car on the track, but I've decided my eye sight it good enough to loose it :)

super gripper
that just looks fab, great to see another HB in something other than box art
Impressed with your driver detail, maybe Tamiya should have had this as the alternate colour scheme. Certainly looks right
RallyeBaz
LOL @ Hiding the driver. Just noticed the cheat book as could not make it out on my iPhone. It's certainly come a long way after I bought it from 'Hobbymaster' then had to buy a 'Violet Racer' kit just so the wheels were legal. Cannot wait to see all the cars together for a group pic on 29th Sept.

This looks class! Love the chequered bonnet and roof and willy with his cheat book! This event is going to have some awesome cars. I wonder how many will come out looking how they started. Wish I could go! Top job on this though! Marcus

I've been eagerly waiting to see your entry and as usual you dont disappoint; a fantastic entry I'll be there on the 29th with my two sons, one driving the other on the tools and me taking on the role of Pit-Dad. I am really looking forward to meeting you and the other chaps.
Grastens
An excellent scheme, and the cheat book was a hilarious touch! I wondered if he was going to be reading Donohue's 'The Unfair Advantage'...

Steve/John.... Been a while mate. I've been lurking and thought I'd re-appear to say this looks great mate. Good to see that you've been out bashing and racing recently, I was a little disturbed that you've been trying to knobble little kids on the beach though!! ( read that carefully).
Hope all is well daaaan Essex way. Cheers,

Woke up this morning to more great comments, thanks to everyone. All the time I was building the interior I had more and more ideas for more details but Rallyebaz kept reminding me its a race and is going to get wrecked (probably) so this is the basic version. Lets just hopehis head stays on. @Meakz1973, can I just say it was an accident . Hope its all good in the windy city..

Great job SRBB I wish the rest of the racers in this glorious event would stop making such a good job of decorating their cars! This means that I will have to put some effort into my HB decoration now I'm looking forward to the meeting on the 29th September - it's going to be a good laugh
JWeston
We need a DT02 Cup SIG for showing off the entries, I reckon.
