I picked this up in a trade a few months ago and after some indecision I decided to keep it and run it in the next DT02 event. I've kept it simple by adding oil shocks, a shock tower stiffener and dying the wheels black, it already had the bearings and ESC etc. I've never been keen on the looks of the H.B or the yellow wheels, but it is growing on me and it could end up being a long term keeper. I do need to thank RACECRAFTERS for sending me a link to a really good deal on NIB H.B's which in turn lead me to this one.

That one looks very nice, as a runner you can't do wrong. Honestly, I think this is the worst Re-release from Tamiya - the original is much better.

Great looking buggy mate!!! The black wheels with the tyre lettering looks the bees knees! I know many people dislike the rere HB but I personally love it. It's still got the great looks of the original (with old Burt Reynolds sat in there too) but makes a great fun runner. Down here I have a couple of mates with them, it's great fun tearing up the beaches and dirt areas. They drive very well and to be honest are proving to be quite robust. Looking forward to some pics of it running I'm now off to find out some more about this years DT-02 event. Cheers!!!!!

I kinda agree with LaMa666
its all about the re-re badge! because its a decent chassis and a great retro looking body shell on the 2010HB!
Tamiya Should of called this The Holiday buggy 2 ? or HB MK2 ? and not a re-re?
But looks loads better with the black wheels! This looks smart Simon!
and its great that the Holiday buggy name lives on in this re-re model and the Holiday buggy 2010 has made its own reputation now as a great fun budget runner! just as the original 1980s Holiday buggy did all them years ago!!
Marcus said it all! This re-re is a success!!
Nice one Simon and you should have a lot of fun at that DT-02 event!
I Love all Holiday buggies!!!!Cheers

Nice HB :] Mines very much like your apart from an alloy motor mount/hetsink, and that I put a clear gearbox on it to make it aesthetically different ;], also put black wheels on too, looks way better in my opinion ;], be good to see it at the DT-02 event ;]

I like the black rims Grumps! I might do same to a spare that I have in white. Black gives it a solid or planted look.

Thanks LaMaa666, that sounds like a good tip. If I enjoy this one then perhaps I should pick up the Vintage version too! Hey Marcus, thanks buddy for the feedback. I know you and your mates really enjoy your H.Bs and its good to read they are robust as it will need to be for the DT02 event!

Hey James, thanks for looking in. You are partly responsible for this purchase so I'm pleased you like it and I'm really looking forward to running this one very soon. SVDT02, thanks bud. I like the sound of the clear gear case and heat sink. I now realise that small changes can make a big difference to the overall look of these models and usability.

Hello Mallo, I was checking out your H.B again last night and the small subtle changes you made really work very well. The yellow roof, no roof spots and the added windscreen make it look really cool. I might have to 'borrow' some of your ideas!
RACECRAFTERS
You're welcome Simon. I preferred the contrast of yelo with the blues and thought that the spots just don't suit a car that spends most of its time in the sun. Like the SR, I think the windscreen is a necessity for this model and simply another one of Tamiya Co's cheap cop outs. Sorry MAD-BEE, but this car is waaay more fun than the original.

Great to see there's a buzz about this years DT-02 Challenge event. Look forward to seeing you all there!! Please look in the Meetings section of the TC forum for full event info!
Sad Sammy
The HB shape is an icon to me and I love your colour scheme choice, looks very Retro!
MAD-BEE
@Mallo my friend i only have real passion for original vintage Tamiya's these days!
I just can't seem to get into modern Tamiya! and that's what the re-re HB is!
and how much i admire the 2010 holiday buggy for its good looks and as a very good fun solid runner the love just isnt there!
I get why Tamiya made this re-re with the DT-02 and its a very big success!
plus i am very pleased its carried on HB name!
A re-re Tamiya is good news to me but for me only if its 95% true to the original though!
Very small tweeks are fine to help reliability as most re-re will be runners.
But its the originals that get me really buzzing!
I am all about the vintage thing! I love the nostalgia of old school Tamiya!
I even love all the flaws and fragile parts in the old stuff! the weaknesses! the imperfections!
I must be getting old and cranky maybe!!
Cheers Mallo
Have a blast Simon
RallyeBaz
Hooray your coming to the DT-02. Looking forward to seeing us all lined up on the grid
MAD-BEE
Maybe i should come to this DT-02 event and whip your buts with my 1980s Holiday buggy with its beefy sport tuned 380 motor and settle this once and for all
That's got all you 2010 HB runners running scared!!!lol

Hi smitchos, after last years success, I'm sure this one will go well too. Sad Sammy, thanks bud, I hope your enjoying your Egress win! Well deserved as well.

Hi MAD-BEE, all strong valid points buddy. I like my vintage models too, I'm not so keen on running them, so the ReRes really work well for me with my 2 left thumbs! I try and keep my collection about 60/40 vintage over modern and I like to run the modern stuff occasionally but without the heart ache.
Grumpy pants
RallyeBaz....hooray, I'm dusting them down ready to run. See you there! James, if you can make it would be awesome, you would be welcome to take my H.B for a test drive or two.
hammerstien
great little cars looks great bring it along and race at the dt-02 challenge and watch that shell fall apart .. @MAD BEE you really need to get to one of these events if you do burger van lunch is on me
MAD-BEE
Yeah Simon very true that's why re-re cars are great and ones like my FAV for example are just like driving the original with all the same handling characteristics! but with added reliability!
That's a win win situation!
I must admit i only run 3 of my small 8 car collection these days the others just sit for a living!
Good luck in the DT-02 buddy! sounds like you will need it with two left thumbs!lol
MAD-BEE
Hammer... you say burger van??? Why didnt you say before!! I am in!!
