Hello, Me again with another new car purchase, and another Brand new Tamiya kit to boot, as wheelie races are becoming the norm at Tamiya club drive events, next time I’m able to attend one (which should hopefully be the DT-02 challenge in September) aside from racing my Desert Gator I will be bringing along another car for the obligatory wheelie race, now I do have a couple of wheelie cars already, I have a Mk1 Wild Willy (long wheel base), an original Vanessa’s Lunch Box, and if you can count it my Marui Toyota Land cruiser Super Wheelie, I could take one of these vehicles but I would rather bring something I bit more modern, now I have not unto now owned any of the WR-02 chassis cars, and over the last few years Tamiya have released a glut of them and I could not decide which one it was that I wanted, that is until I started looking for cars to buy with this will money that I’ve recently come into..

So I was looking on Ebay for prospective candidates and one of these things popped up, the Suzuki Jimny (SJ30) Wheelie “Blue Style” limited edition, now when I saw the pictures of this thing I fell in love, if there is two colours that go well together its Blue & White, Take the Tamiya Striker for instance, but on this thing the colours are not just limited to the body and wheels, oh No there are also parts of the chassis moulded in White and Blue plastic giving this thing a unique look, add to that it’s a limited edition model and it could be a future rarity and that another reason for me to own one, when the money arrived I had been watching on of these on Ebay for some time, so I clicked the Buy-it-Now button and yesterday it arrived.

As with the Zahhak I won’t be building this car just yet? I do need to get a radio set for it, and I could also do with getting some new RC Ni-Mh Battery packs as mine have not been used for a while and may not be up to the task of running a car for any given length of time, so I unwrapped the package and had a look inside the kit, first thing that I noticed straight up was that the body does not come Pre-Painted??? I was under the impression that this car did come with the body pre-painted in the blue colour but it doesn’t, this is a great disappointment for me cos part of the reason I bought this thing was cos of the blue colours in comes in, so I naturally assumed that the body came pre-painted in these colours and with it being a special edition I had expected it to be so, I mean that have done it with cars in the past, supplying them with two bodies one pre-painted the other a blank lexan shell that you can paint yourself, my TXT-1 came this way as did the Re-issue Subaru Brat as I recall, anyway it just means that I’m gonna have to paint the body which is no great hardship but I just didn’t expect to have to do it?

So what about the rest of the kit, well it’s a modern Tamiya kit, some pre-assembled parts like the wheels and gearbox assembly have their own cardboard compartments in the box, the rest of the parts come on sprues and are bagged up separately, the instructions, information and decals sheets are laid out in the bottom of the box and the lexan body shell rests in the bottom of the box also, it’s a fairly typical Tamiya affair and nothing to write home about with the same quality as you have come to expect, Interestingly though the main instructions manual is for the assembly of the chassis only, there is a separate leaflet for instructions on painting and preparing the body shell, and being a Wheelie car it comes with a wild willy figure.

So like I said I won’t be building this car right away? I need to get a new 2.4Ghz radio set for it (or alternatively lift one out of my Kyosho Sandmaster or Vaterra cars?) and get some fresh batteries for it, but I will be building it up in the next couple of weeks and it will be ready to roll in time for the DT-02 event in September ;)

1 My second new Tamiya in less than a week. It came from Hong Kong wrapped in brown paper. 1 This sticker tells you its the Blue Style Ltd Ed. 1 Open the box and there isn't much to see. 1 I spread all the kit parts out across my bed. The wheels have this cool metallic Blue chrome. 1 Some views of the box sides. 1 And a view of the other box side. 1 Some special promotion for RC football? Its the same box as used for the regular Red Jimny

LOVE IT, the words BLUE and STYLE used in one phrase, nothing better than that. I can see a whole fleet of these in red and blue playing soccer, that would be great to see. I really have to see if there is a part number for those team decals alone since they look pretty promising to use anywhere.
NICE BUY, but you were RIPPED OFF, you don't get to struggle with putting the tires on the rims. It also looks like they did a great job packing and labeling it so the posties don't break it too much.

A nice kit! it does seem odd that the body isn't pre-painted, glad to see the kit survived with just brown paper around it!

If only Tamiya had all these wheelie kits alongside the M38 and Willy's Wheeler it would have rocked the market more! A nice piece of kit and I reckon the blue version is way cooler!

As with the Zahhak this car is now fully built, paint ad and running thanks to a new 2.4ghz dc set that arrived this week, I will say that doing the body was a total nightmare, it looks simple enough being mostly one colour but then the decals you get with it.... door handles, door hinges, individual pop rivers around the edge of the truck bes fir the tourno cover, window rubbers and even one for the panel gap for the bonnet???? Anyway it's done and running and will debut at the DT-02 Challenge in a few weeks time, I'll also put up building blogs fir this car too
