My serpent F180
Hello Tamiyaclub.
Here is my Serpent F180 formula 1 car.
I love the looks of it. The scale is 1/8 so its quite large.
Length is 58 cm, width 26cm. Weight about 3 kilos ready to run.
When i bought it the rotostart mechanism in the engine did not work properly. My solution was to make a new part at work to replace the end of the engine, and to use a starterbox directly on the flywheel to start it instead. The last picture shows my new engine cover that also has a heatsink.
When i got it, it was also really dirty, so i took it completely apart, and cleaned everything.
I really like the front brakes. They are cable operated, and add a really cool scale realism i think.
The car has rear wheel drive, and the engine is quite powerful i hear. Its a .28 size engine.
I have not had a chance to drive the car yet, because i need a new clutch for it.
Comments always welcome.

I hope to find a new bodyset for it, that will not cost me an arm and a leg. I have an idea for a new paintjob

Cool concept! The Veteq lives on!

Curious as to how it is to drive! I've competed with 1:8 Track cars since 1995. They really do need 4WD, very hard to drive when you strip a belt and only have rear wheel drive. And they really need the CanAm body as well, the lack of downforce with this F1 shell must be very noticeable... could be a handful this beast!

Wow check out that chassis! Reminds me of Tamiya's own F201 but with a .28 gas engine and bigger! I like the way the exhaust is tucked nicely like the real thing.
