Kyosho Progress
Finally finished this Kyosho (Robbe) Progress a few weeks ago.
An experimental mid-eighties (1985 / 1986) rc car. When I was young I thought this was the car have. It is 4WD and 4WS. At the front is has torsion springs combined with a single damper.
There is no front differential but one way bearings at the front wheels. (took me a while to re-assemble those when taken apart! )
I guess in the end the car wasn’t a big success but it’s great to have one now.
The original MSC is left out so I can do some slow indoor laps with modern electronics now and then.

Very nice. Its a very under rated car. I had a opertunity to run one of these beautys and was quite impressed. Definetly one for the shelf.

Classic Kyosho style paint job there, nice and different.

I remember these. How does the rear wheel steering operate?

Thanks, I really like the Kyosho buggys from this era. I have a few more to work on.
A Gallop mk II, a Raider, a Pegasus and an Ultima (mk I). All with the same recognizable Kyosho look. But with completely different chassis setup.
Although the rear wheels steer only a few degrees (maybe 25 % compared to front) it does turn more sharp than other buggy’s. At low speeds at least. I don’t know what it going to happen at high speeds or loose gravel. But I read that in competition the rear steering often was locked. Because of nervous driving behaviour. I have added a picture to show the front and rear steering angles.

Looks superb! This is a very interesting buggy with lots of neat features! Great to have for a collector.
Not sure how successful it was in its day! I do remember this buggy as you said I think it was to do with its 4WD and 4 wheel steering! Plus chain drive always got me curious. But don't recall it having a lot of track success?
But that don't matter now it's a beautiful buggy with a great design and a high collectability Factor! Very nice mate its mint! I love it!
Outta Control
