Wild One # 4
I'm currently building a Wild One from parts in my spares boxes and a few purchases here and there . I got stuck for a roof and didn't need to buy a body / roof set really . I decided to build my own one from plastc card - styrene card . I used a my nib body kit as a reference for measurements and set about it . I made a paper template and test fitted it ,then cut out some 1.5 mm plastic to shape . I then made another panel , slightly smaller this time ( from .75mm plastic ) to produce the small lip around the edge of the roof . I rounded the corners ,shaped the front and rear drop folds, bonded it with liquid poly to the main panel and then rounded those corners . I then cut out the centre profiles from 1mm plastic and bonded those to the roof . I'm pleased with the result and now to get some paint on it :) . Just need a couple of parts to get it finished , so If anyone has the red side panels (or FAV beige ) for the chassis and 2 rear damper caps please drop me line

Nice work, I made an alloy one for my FAV / not as detailed as this. Yours should stand a bit of abuse over the lexan effort !!

Cheers Si. yes it should hold up well - those lexan ones always crack around the screw holes as you know

Nicely done. I was hoping it was 3D printed so I could buy one from you and not have to make one myself!

You could also do it with a lexan sheet and make similar to the Hot Shot roof, simply flat.

Oh WOW, just WOW! I'm impressed. I wish I could work something half as nice for my tractor project. Your custom work is nothing short of excellent, Kev!
