Kyosho Optima mini z plus Tamiya Tamtech frog
I haven't added a vintage frog to my collection yet, even though I built one as a boy and have fond memories of racing it. So decided on a Tamtech frog which is a marvel of precision and great to have in the collection it sits nicely on the top shelf and looks great. Now I am waiting for a Kyosho Optima to turn up it is one of the greatest rc cars ever and is in my top three. In the mean time I have sourced the mini z the greatest miniature racing car ever. It is a masterpiece with four wheel drive and oil shocks with a great selection of add ons in alloy if you can find them!!. It's a gorgeous mini buggy and performs superbly straight out the box, once you fill the shocks up that is. It's smaller brother is a pull back, they pop up on eBay sometimes and are a nice addition to a collection.
So only its big brother to find and are have a full set. 😉

Wow, this might be the first one of these shown alongside a Tamtech as I guess I had always thought they were about the same size. Nice collection of models of models. I think it is cool to collect the mini versions of the wonderful kit cars we like so much.
Is it just me or could Kyosho have upped the COOL Factor by making a bit more of a retro looking radio transmitter??? Just me thinking.

Hi Crash Crammer thank you for the comment That's a interesting idea regarding the transmitter, I can say one thing which is extra cool is the transmitter feature's a quick release action so once the button is pressed a magazine ejects from the bottom of the grip section holdind the batteries in place. Very cool touch.

Oh yes, that would be a cool feature and perhaps keep the breakage down to a minimum, but would be even cooler if it had a LiPo installed in the handle, then you could run forever.

I love the Optima Mini Z also. Once I get my 1:10 Optima all sorted out I'll do a family pic like this too! I only wish Kyosho made some other Mini Z vintage buggies - Ultima? Tomahawk? Scorpion? Turbo Scorpion to also have a pair with the only other die cast pull-back version of a 1:10 buggy they made.

Thanks for the message beefmuffin, there is another highly collectable Tamtech out there being the 4x4 hotshot but the price of these is incredible, so Fingers crossed and maybe in another few years the Optima mini z will be a very sort after item and there value will truly reflect that.
