I originally set out out to build a fully hopped up chassis for the Porsche 911 GT1. It's taken a while but today I am finally happy. An awful decal set to apply, it's taken me two weeks on and off as I lost interest a few times. This is one body that I grew to hate while doing it. The following was done.
The Chassis.
The chassis was completely stripped, degreased and hand cleaned. All the screws were ultrasonically cleaned in meths and then checked. Any non Tamiya rougue screws or damaged ones were replaced. The plastic parts were replaced as required. As many Tamiya and non-Tamiya period Hop-Ups that I could find were then fitted, the list below details some of them.
The Body
The bodyshell is an original Tamiya 1/8 scale shell that came to me from Japan used. It was complete however so I set about removing the decal set, cleaning it, painting the parts that were meant to be black and then re-applied a new decal set. The wheels and tyres are brand new Tamiya items that were painted at a local body shop in gold paint and then laquered.
The Engine
The engine is very special. It was once a standard OS Max 12LD but it has been tuned , balanced and lightened by M-Speed in Japan. This includes a new head and rear cover plate, it sings on full revs!
I hope you like it.
