Having loads of fun with this - close to new built - Super Astute. It's quite fast with the Dynatech 02H in it. It came with a Futaba Megatech controller and all Futaba gear inside including a nice old retro esc. I had to replace the steering servo for a low profile Savox as my lipo battery would not have fit.
Now to experiment with gear ratio's and might try some brushless set-ups.
Thanks for looking!
Nathan

Interesting shock set up, looks like one pair of sleeved dampers on the back and one pair of Hi Caps on the front. Nice looker and good to hear it is a runner, not many of those around I bet.

Thanks Crash. You think the dampers are different types? I initially thought they were the same just different colours, but now when I look close there are subtle differences. Do you know what the story is with the pitch on the gears? I don't think my old pinions will mesh properly with the spur gear, which is a pain in the butt if that's indeed true

Pinion gear module 0.5 metric, shared with DF-03 and DF-03ra.
Front Hi-Cap Dampers, rear Sleever Dampers.
Hi-Cap fits Avante, Egress, Astute, Super Astute etc ect.
Sleeved fitted Dyna Storm, Dyna Blaster, TR-15T.

Kontemax - Cool thanks mate. Wonder why the prev owner decided on 2 different shock sets when upgrading then..? Presumably they have slightly different characteristics. Also, how strong is this TTC gearbox? Can it handle a good brushless motor IYO?

I ran the TTC gearbox with a Orion Orbital Pro BB 17 Turns brushed motor on rough dusty terrains and was a bad life. There were many problems: the first one is that there were a lack of 0.5 module pinion gear so even with the bigger one the gear ratio were yet too high for this motor and the track condition and the car was quick from stop to go but slow in top speed. Infact the TTC was designed for hotter motors, from 12T to 10T. Anyway this problem is solved today because the DF-03 chassis has brought with it many new pinions 0.5 teeth choice and the modern motors have so many rpm that it's not a problem.
Generally the TTC, thanks the slippery clutch, can manage hot motors, for sure motors equivalent to 10 turns brushed motors, I don't know about hotter motors.
The problem is the dust and the gear teeth.
In fact the gearcase and the lexan gearcover are not sealed and the thin dust enters, grinding the small gear teeth. I tried to seal the gearcase and the gearcover with greased sponge but every time I used the TTC I needed to disassemble the gears (easy, thanks the bottom gearcover and the lexan cover), to clean all and to regrease everything. After several month of use finally the iddle gear teeth worn out and I switched to Dyna Storm that has the same gearmodule but a perfectly close gearbox.
What can I say? I ran the TTC in very hard conditions and never had problems of breakages but I litterally consumed it. The Clutch is tricky to regulate because is too much sensible to the set up, just only 1/4 of turn of the nut greatly affects the set up. But once you found your set up you can forget it.
If you run it in a dry and clean surface probably the TTC is eternal, who knows, but here in Italy the off road track are really off road with dust, powder, stones, holes and so on and the mechanic parts have an hard work.

Concerning the dampers: because the Sleeved Dampers were only long, Hi Caps were long and short. Probably he used what he had.

Many thanks for your info Kontemax. I didn't realise the dust could give so much grief, so now I will make sure I keep the cover on tight and clean the gears regularly. I'm glad you said low turn brushless works in this as I want to try out a Novak ballistic motor in it but I was worried about killing the gearbox. This thing is so much fun to run!
