Futaba pistol grips 1980's
Here is the latest radios to join my collection, I have been on the look out for a Futaba 3 PG for Quite some time, its very difficult to find in the UK and rarely come up for sale. Several have shown up but always in the usa and with shipping and customs makes it extremely expensive.
I was very lucky with help from a fellow TC member Crash Cramer who literally source all the correct servo's , receivers and the correct crystals for me along with two very good example's of two very popular radio transmitters of the time. So we have the magnum sport the first in the series, a very basic model but taking up a very comfortable design to hold plus not too heavy and turned out to be a very popular radio at the time and resulted in a design which stayed with futaba for quite some time including the later Tamtech models. Now this brings us onto the FP-T3PG a very unique pistol grip radio featuring an array of precision adjustments and control of your servo's. The design is superb and in my eyes a very attractive radio if not one of futaba's best hand pistol grip radios they have released for looks and functions.
My only problem now is I feel the need to have the entire magnum range....

Well now you are getting on a slippery slope. I am glad I could help out a fellow Futaba Folk, perhaps we should start a SIG, nah, too much trouble. I have amassed just about every vintage Futaba pistol grip to be had. I have an AM and PCM Magnum Mk2, decided that was enough as they are too hard to afford and come by in good condition as you have mentioned in finding yours. Interesting as it is, the phrase MEGATECH seemed reserved for the UK market and/or only in 27MHz frequency. I have the MEGATECH version of your sport shown here. If I am honest, I have slowed down considerably on the collecting Futaba, become a bit too picky perhaps, but the funny thing is, still trying to find a simple Mk2 SPORT like yours there with a 'RING' finger trigger.

Well I can say this for sure, I will keep it simple collecting and just finish off the magum pistol grips. Can't really see myself getting lost in having to obtain every single version but it's a hunt for somthing and at the moment it's slowing down with the RC cars. I'm near to completing my car collection with only a couple more to go. Well that's the plan lol.... I hope 😉
