Copy Countach Bumper
To start this addition to my showroom:
I am not advertising these bumpers on Tamiya Club. I condone replica parts in the only sense of people completing their models from the rarity or lack of funds. For my own purpose, I enjoy the process of making things.
If you want more info, please PM me.
This is my first bumper out of the mould, I am pleased with the results. I used to make repro wing mirrors for the Scorcher, Hilux and Bruiser many years ago when they were super rare and ridiculously priced. Tamiya Club members loved them and I enjoyed producing something that people really needed and couldn't get.
One of my 'missions' getting back in to collecting was to try out my hand on replicating some more parts but also finding some of the best techniques for restoring old parts.
I found some defects in this mould, which you can see on the top of the bumper where its has a sligh ring mark. I will be doing a new one over the next couple of months but after quite a bit of experience with moulding and replicating, I find each part takes a lot of practice at its own little technique to get perfect, even then I will get up to 50% success rate on good replicas.
The resin used for this makes it really a display unit only.
It compares its flexibility to the original nylon but not as strong. I would probably use it on runners, but I suspect a head on crash would shatter this, hopefully I will get around to testing it on a live runner.

In this era of 3d printers there is someone that did the jopbin the old way and I like it!
