description  I'm still in shock that this car is finally complete because it's been a long and difficult journey but as I look at it i realise that it has been worth it.

I've got a serious soft spot for the Astute because it got me into racing many years ago. Actually i had a Madcap that i converted to Astute spec using the chassis and shell etc and actually created a car better for racing than the Astute as it was lighter and simpler. In my mind though i never actually had an Astute and i always wanted one. Just over a year ago I was clearing out my garage and found the old MadStute in some boxes along with a new shell/wing and undertray and planned to sell it on Ebay since i'd not been into r/c cars for many years. When looking into what it was worth though i found this website and was hooked! I decided to restore the car to stock form but as i collected more and more parts i decided to create a new built car instead.

Now if anyone has ever tried to do this from new individual parts they will know that these cars have some parts (rear tyres, screw bags, bodyset etc) that are very hard find, not necessarily expensive but rare and hard to locate, i was gutted to discover that my new bodyset was in-fact a Racecraft replica so it's taken me nearly a year to collect all the parts and i have to thank all those who helped me especially Tamiya Wizard (Thanks so much Howard). Even when it came to the final build a couple of nights ago this car fought me as i discovered that the ball connector bag i had was for the wrong car!

Anyway it's all done now and mint, I enjoyed building it and am amazed at just how many components it has. Shockingly over-engineered really but I can forgive it for the looks. I think it's stunning and for me the best looking 2wd buggy ever produced. I do prefer the Astute red livery to that of the Super Astute i must admit. This car is fully ballraced and has the Hop-up Hi-cap platinum shocks on from the era as well as universal jointed driveshafts. Absolutely superb car and a milestone for my collection. I guess i owe this car a lot. Please feel free to comment.

{UPDATE NOV-05: Finally got this one 100% complete having just fitted an original MSC which took months to find.. phew!}

Nice car Steve, Is this the one you going to sell to me?

I already have 2 Astute runners so this one is strictly a shelf-queen. I don't fancy tracking down all those parts again

Very very sexy indeed! Are you gonna run it or keep it immaculate for display?
