description  This was formerly my Sand Hornet- the silver one I built a few months back. Since then it's been backflipped, front flipped, ran in the sand and salt water and left unloved. Oh, and not to mention major crashes in between all those flips! If you downloaded my video, you'll see that this car was driven HARD! It sat broken for a while, then I started to feel bad about it- knowing how cool it could look and also since it was a gift from my good friend Raffy. I had the day off today so I was on a mission- to rebuild this Hornet into shelf status. In my arsenal was a new re-issue chassis, and several NIB parts, including the bumper, front and rear wheels and tires, bodyset, and some fancy hardware. I stripped and rebuilt it with stainless hex screws, gave the bodyset (another gift from Raffy, thanks man!) a coat of translucent light blue followed by bright silver, and put it all back together. Added a few decals and detailed the tires. I used the Padlatrak's in the rear because I think they look better than the spikes. I still need to add the front KC's but I'm really loving the way this turned out! I removed the bumper at the end as it looked a bit off, I think it looks far better without. It's powered by a stock silver can 540 and it has plenty of scoot for our beach runs and gives a long runtime. I do have evil thoughts of a brushless system, just for fun...hmmm....

Thats one sweet Hornet, What a cool colour! I agree with you on the padlatraks, spikes just are not realistic looking. I was considering the same scene for a Hornet since I saw the same base and stripes on a 70s style custom van, now I've seen it for real its a definate.
