description  Just bought my 3rd T6XS for my tanks. 150 GBP for the whole full radio set (4x S-148 servos, RX and TX NiCd's and charger, and FP-R138 DF Receiver (another bl**dy one LOL)) from Antics online UK. I thought that I would get it now since there is 70 GBP off the 220 GBP retail price. Also, there are 3 left at Antics UK's warehouse and I have no idea how long I will be able to still get these for, so I thought that it would be a good idea to get it whilst I still can NIB and un-molested !

Now I don't have to keep messing around with swapping over gates when I run my models, as I have a T6XS for each of my model types, thank goodness. Expensive TX though, I think, for what it is, but that's Futaba for you, and that's rip off Britain for you.

The 3rd TX NiCd will come in handy as well so I always have 2 spare and charged...

My TC pal Ant wrote to me recently just before I got my 3rd T6XS and said '>Small little fact I just noticed my first controller is serial 021204424 and my new one is 021204414. How's that for closeness', and I replied 'You are gonna smile at this but my 1st one is 021204400 and my 'newer' 2nd one is 021002343. Hehe like I said in my 2nd T6XS entry in my showroom ;-

...'Funny thing is that this 2nd, newer T6XS, that I use with my 'cars' gates, has a serial number BEFORE my older one!! As though Ripmax [the UK importer of Futaba] just found a load of them in a warehouse somewhere, gathering dust. Wierd.'

...and I bought these first 2 about 3 months apart, both came via Ripmax from my LHS [Vulcan Hobbies, Merseyside, England]'.

My 1st T6XS that I use with my '3-speed trucks' gates is here ;-

My 3rd one (this TX) has serial no. 021204408. My 1st one was bought like a year ago or something and my new one has only just come but they are only 8 numbers apart LOL, and my 2nd one was 'older' in serial no even though it was newer than my 1st one LOL. It's on 40.665 MHz (EU 'Channel 50', UK channel '665'). My 1st T6XS (trucks) is on 40.685 (52) and my 2nd T6XS (cars) is on 40.695 (53).

UPDATE : 19th December 2005 ;- I just modified this TX (Transmitter) so that the 'notchy' [i.e. Aeroplane type] throttle ratchet was swapped from the left stick up/down axis and put onto the right stick up/down axis (gun elevation, on my Tank) [this is very easy to do, and does NOT void any warranty, it is a 'user adjustment'] and then I put a spring return onto the left stick up/down axis (throttle on my Tank) [again, this is simple to do, and does NOT void any warranty, it is also a 'user adjustment'], and the other channels are left as they are (right stick right/left axis = steering on my Tank, and left stick right/left axis = turret rotation on my Tank).

I borrowed the spring return from one of my other T6XS transmitters, but I will be getting a couple of the official Futaba spare parts kits for this, which Futaba call the 'Spring Return Kit for ST36', Futaba parts code Y-MA8036. Hobbystores (www.hobbystores.co.uk) sell these, but you will probably have to 'phone round a few of their shop branches until you find it in stock. My TC pal Ant got his from them. Hobbystores Nottingham told me that they hadn't got it in stock and they told me to 'phone the UK Futaba importer, i.e. Ripmax, on 020 8282 7500, and ask to be put through to their Futaba Servicing Department, and get it from them directly. I did this yesterday (21st January 2006) but Ripmax told me that they are out of stock, and do not do any back orders, and it has been ordered anyway as part of their normal stocking of Futaba parts, and that I have to call them back in 4 weeks and they will probably have it then. Ant tells me that this little spring return kit costs about 2 GBP.

UPDATE : 21st December 2005 ;- You can tell Antics which frequency you prefer when you order one, using the web order page. However since they only have 2 of them left the choice of exact frequency within the 40MHz band may be somewhat restricted LOL.

Here are the legal 40MHz frequencies for the UK from the UK Radio Control Council (UK RCC) ;-
http://www.ukrcc.org/40mhz.html

Ant (my TC pal with a load of Tamiya trucks who visits the R/C truck shows) is on 40.695 MHz (EU channel '53', UK channel '695') with his 1st T6XS for some of his Tractor Trucks, and he is also on 40.675 MHz for his 2nd T6XS that he just bought for his other lot of Tractor Trucks. I'll have to watch out that our frequencies don't clash if we ever meet up LOL...I think he needs another T6XS because he has more than 6 trucks maybe? In my case, I need 1 T6XS for my Tractor Trucks, 1 for my cars, and 1 for my tank(s). This is because I don't want to have to keep swapping the different GATE TYPES over from one TX to the other etc., so I bought 3 T6XS's.

****** THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR ANYONE TO NOTE ;- IF YOU WANT TO GET THE TAMIYA MULTI FUNCTION UNIT (MFU) FOR THE TAMIYA TRUCKS AT SOME LATER DATE OR A FULL OPTION TAMIYA TANK WHICH HAS A DMD-T0X AND A MULTI-FUNCTION UNIT WITH IT, THEN YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A RADIO SET WITH MECHANICAL ANALOGUE RATCHET TRIMS. DIGITAL TRIMS TYPE TRANSMITTERS (TX) ARE NOT SUITABLE AT ALL. IN THE CASE OF THE TRUCKS, YOU ALSO NEED A TX THAT YOU CAN FIT SHIFT AND STEERING GATES TO. ANT MAKES SPECIAL T6XS SPECIFIC SHIFT GATES WHICH ME AND SHAWN AND OTHERS HAVE BOUGHT FROM ANT, AND THEY ARE A PERFECT FIT ON THE T6XS. HE ALSO MAKES THE TANK GATES FOR THE T6XS, SHOWN HERE********************

My T6XS has mechanical ratchet trims and so is suitable for use with my MFU in my lorry (truck). Digital trims are NOT suitable. It's the same for the Full Option kit 1/16th Tamiya tanks, they use a DMD and MFU which REQUIRE ANALOGUE MECHANICAL TRIMS. Digital trims won't be suitable.
