| description | I found this Kyosho Outlaw Raider ARR at a church sale a long time ago. It's in great shape, and has its original box and manual plus all original parts in great shape. I have seen lots of Raider buggies but only a couple of Outlaw Raiders and never one this nice. It came with a stock Mabuchi, but I have a Kyosho Mega Motor and a Le Mans Stock 05 motor for it too. It's been for sale for a long time because it's just too nice to run and deserves to be owned by a collector. I'm not much for these old STs so it sits in its box behind my bed.
UPDATE: Some more info. This truck was an easy restoration. First a good cleaning, then I rebuilt everything and replaced the bushings with bearings. The MSC had to be fixed and rebuilt so I did that and fitted a proper motor. I shimmed some of the suspension slop (I think) with washers. The body didn't really need any work. Overall the truck is in shelf condition.
But I did run it! It was run about a dozen times. The truck has lots of torque and good speed. It's not a proper stadium truck so I expected it to perform like the buggy it was based on, but I was wrong. It handles a lot like a ST actually, the only problem is it doesn't have a lot of suspension travel but it uses what it has well. The truck refuses to flip over and even jumps well.
UPDATE 2: The little truck still sits in its box beside my bed. I have a special place in my heart for this little guy though, and I'm in no hurry to sell it. Some day it will sit proudly on my display shelf alongside my other cars.
