I bought this old Wild Willy last week and did a quick 'restoration' I actually hate doing restos because of the time and expense I simply don't like looking for parts so I used what I had and what I got from the ebay auction. I stripped the body in brake fluid and found no cracks other than a tiny one on grille, it was missing only the shifter, dash and gas can but I had some WW2 parts so they came about. The wheely springs had been worn off so sitting at my work bench i dug through my junk drawers and built a new wheely bar from TLT-1 brackets, a spring, two twist ties and some wheels from a tape deck I took apart. it works really well ;) I was to lazy to take the chassis apart and it ran great so I simply sprayed it with a pressure washer inserted some more grease and called it good, I repainted it with the same paint I used for my real Jeep, All In all a quick easy project that I might do more on later but I just wanted it ready to run, Oh I removed all the old electrics and fitted some a new hi-torque servo, a Tamiya ESC and Futaba magnum Sport radio, what a blast to run, I'll take better pictures when i get the real Jeep out and cleaned up for the summer ;)

Finally an original On the real deal hood again i can hardly wait till summer quick driver job new rear look home brew wheely bar from junk I left the winch off like real one what i started with last week

Real neat project. How about a pic of the real Willy with a driver in white overalls and white helmet (lol)? I also like the wheely bar.

sweet ride mate, i wondered how long it would be until you got one painted up like your 1:1 jeep, all you gotta do now is buy a white race suit and helmet and look real angry, that would rule seriously tho you are skilled as this quick job looks mint, good work mate

Nice work Wyo. Looks good with the real thing. I think it needs a Wyoming plate on the front to match.

Thanks guys, I was really having fun every evening last week with the willy, yeah they never seem to get old. I am building a much more scale 1/6 scale Jeep ...this little guy was just to get into the Jeep mood, the Tamiya decal is only a temp until I get some Wyo license plates made for all my trucks Maybe I should find the willy suit and helmet.

Good luck on finding that helmet 1:1, but I bet you could find the suit. Possibly search for a vintage AGV helmet, that might be it.

Looks great in red. I really like the look of the WW and WW2. I just got my first WW2 about a month ago and then, shortly after, I got the WW and now I'm hooked on the WW. BTW, does the front windshield fold down? I'm missing the front windshield on my WW.

thanks, no the windshield is actually bolted but it could easily be made to fold if desired

Very nice! Bonus points for the CJ2A modeling stand. (I had a '46 myself for years). I gotta fab a wheelie bar like yours
