| description | I Did some work on the scale F-100 wich is going to be a rat rod. I had some problem making it into a runner because of the limited space inside. And I wanted to get it in line with the type of the truck.
I found a black Tamiya Acto Power motor that is a bit similar to a V8: heavy, powerfull and not too much RPM but loads of torque. The ESC is also very old fashioned, heavy and black but sensitive too: I can run it very slow through the house with lots of power left to do a spin at any moment.
Alltough I need to change the tires: I bought the M-Grip version of the Tamiya tires and they are very very sticky: fast acceleration but not really much wheel spin. Need to change that to match the character of the truck. Besides that it is getting very nice: it runs much better than expected. The M-03 chassis in RWD is really good.
I also did something on the paintwork: I used a kind of scrub or sand cleaning product. It is called VIM and it is a cleaning product from my grandma;s days. Alfons (def 4x4) gave me the tip. I didn’t know they even sold it still…
But it works great: it is in between sanding and polishing: it gives a matt weathered finish. Will make pics outside when done so it will be better visible.
Now, on to the details: windows, interior, little decals, etc. And for the other F-100 builders: watch out for the tight fit of the battery inside the body. No fast battery changes possible on this one.
Thanks for watching!

your sons pic looks like the pixar towmater lol!
so, you are hiding an alfa somewhere??
Thanks for the encouraging words and tips! I am definitaly going to finish it (but thats hard with an Alfa Giulia lying around....) Build on everyone!
very cool, I like the way it came out and that battery sure is a tight fit, but who would need to change it fast, just take it easy and enjoy the ride. low and slow.
Looking better all the time keep up the nice work
This is a sweet rat. Loving all the mods. I have wanted to do rat look 1/10 and 1/18 but not known how. To help the batt. to fit remove both plastic ends, resolder the cables sideways and cover ends with electrical tape. Then there is only 2-5mm stress. So much easier to fit the shell on then
Nice looking truck, wich that weathered matt finish. works great well, that VIM ha.. ha.. i use it olso for a lot of things, its cheap and good. i didnt no their was not enouf space for all the electronics. you use the body so low, sow you have to cut out a piese of the truckbed. the magnets are an great idea to hold the truckbed cover on his place. i thingk its not a good idea to run this truck through the mud or the water, because it destroit your engine and the electronics. all the electronics are a bit to low in this truck. an another advantage is, it gives the truck a better running stabalise.
Looks very realistic all the American trucks i have seen in the uk have the well used look to them .
Yes noticed that with the battery already. the body holds the battery in place. Nice looking pumpkin
great to see this old friend.
Wow, that is some really sweet work Kees (y)
very nice looking rig, keeps getting better too!
Kawada tyres might work but they're much lower of a profile so might not go with the look. That's a real weathered look there. Looks like you've crazed the paint a bit. Really like this project, great work!
