This is was my first ever non-Tamiya RC car. I traded my Terra Scorcher (plus lots of extra money) at my local model shop for a nearly new Lazer zx with a wonderfully painted body. It already came with a Futaba MC112b Speedo and 27mhz radio. This was the car that I first took to my local buggy club (Southend-Essex). The car was so predictable and easy to drive that it really helped me in that early racing days. I raced this for a couple of years before moving to a 2wd RC10. Despite running it for a long period both at the track and in the street the car held up very well. In the entire time ive owned it (since 1990) It has had a set of new steering knuckles, 2 front gearbox cases & a front shock tower. Pretty good I think and a testament to the superb quality of these cars. It still has its original bearings, gear diffs, shocks and belts, etc and it still runs silently. I replaced the battered original body with a racecraft ZXR one just before I finished racing it. I have since stripped, cleaned and rebuilt. I will always have very fond memories of this one! UPDATE 31.12.2011: Found a dirty looking used but original ZX shell on ebay and with the addition of a TGP wing and undertray I have got this car looking original again. I much prefer the ZX shell to the ZXR. Well pleased with it!
