description  This is the one that started it for me. Original Holiday Buggy. Not in that bad shape considering the almost daily use that I put it through - running it as hard as it's 6v / 380 combo could muster. I'm on one side still deciding whether to keep the worn, 'battle-damaged' parts that resulted from my many days of fun back in the past, or whether to replace the old with new. Worried that that may turn it into something clinical and in some way false.. I imagine this is an age old conundrum people face with restores of cars they have owned.. Pictures here are pre-cleaning. I'll update my showroom when it's in better shape. Comments appreciated.

Hi. No, siliconespray comes in many brands. Good luck!

@swedishwiking - so this silicone spray. Am I looking for anything in particular? Is this a common product?

I think on balance I am favouring keeing it 'as is'. Only, maybe thorough clean-up! I have my eyes open for spares - have a lead on a chasis and front tyres. Have just received a NIB rear bumper, but could use some good rear tyres.

Difficult choice but if you restored it pristine then you'd probably take an apprehensive approach to using it, and really enjoying it. I'd still get some bits for it as spares and I still reckon you can get that balance of having something that's prized but all-out usable.

Clean it, add new grease and ballbearings and keep the rest as is. Kept my Optima this way. The body looks like crap but it was painted by myself. Your ride would look very nice after cleaning. Tip: Spray some silicone on the tires to prevent them from rotting.

I'd give her a clean up and just leave as is. BUT, then I'd also go hunt a beat up 1 to run, and a new in the box one to keep for a rainy day. I sold mine that I ran back int he 80s, but was lucky enough to find a new built ( not even finished) about 7 years ago. I won't run it, but it's great to have a new one again. I do remember paying 25 quid new for mine from A-1 Batteries back in the day....

I share the same problem restoring my HB. Should I replace all worn parts or not. Mine was so damaged that I need to replace both the chassis and body and it will never be 'my childhood car' when finished.

Hi I felt thesame about my old SS, I got it down from the loft, and replaced certain things that were damaged. Only to put the old stuff back on...It just wasn't 'mine'
