This was my first Tamiya and I absolutely love it. It has been put through its paces many times and I’ve never serviced it. It’s tumbled down steps, crashed big jumps and been fording above bonnet height. As much as it was in a very bad and neglected state it just kept going.

I thought it’s about time it got a total over haul and the respect it deserves. After lots of thinking my final decision was a “careful runner” and a look that hopefully matches its toughness.

Most of my ideas came from the TC 3 speed fraternity, so thanks guys for the inspiration! I also dedicate this post to my friend Martyn who helped me when I had problems or needed advice, it wouldn’t have been as enjoyable nor possible if it wasn’t for him, cheers mate.

Am currently working on a little stills movie of the whole restore/project which I will upload once finished, watch this space! Comments and questions welcome as usual and most appreciated. Oh and thanks for reading this far if you did.

Looks tough dude, the weathering job is very 'scale' and the black rims set off the body very nicely. Great work!
