This is one of those rare kits I don't get bored of after I build it, it just always has something I can do to it to make it better or look better. I added some of RC4wds new Dirt grabbers which are my favorite rc tire ever, and I was so excited by these new 3 piece Steel beadlock wheels, they will actually rust yay! I gave them a light coat of flat white and then scratched the paint so they will get nice and rusty next time I drive. I think these wheels and tires look much more scale on this rig than the landy wheels with rock crushers I had before.

New treads on one of my most used rigs I love these tires, they are so scale ;) Profile with new 3 piece Steel wheels will look better when they start to rust tail

The wheel and tire look very scale indeed, Seth. Fantastic work as always!

Simply awesome still. Amazing details on the wheels and tires, I will have to save my allowance now to buy myself some. You must get a bulk discount from them since you buy so much and then you advertise for them, they must sponsor you Seth.

that is rediculously awesome.

lol, thanks guys, I pimp the stuff for free because I want to spread the interest in super scale RC around. Tamiya, RC4wd, RPP etc. They probably should pay me but I pay them a huge portion of my funds for their products and then I advertise products for them lol!

Excellent work as usual! The weathered orange paint scheme is very 80s, perfect for this old Toyota truck!

I love waiting to see what you do to it next! Seeing the boxart version of this kit does not really make me want to go out and buy one, but seeing this does!! Brilliant!

Love the way the weight pushes down on the wheels. Agree with you on those wheels. They are gonna be awesome once the are really weathered. Great to hear of products from the suppliers that is worthy of a purchase. So keep on telling us about them.

Looks awesome and very realistic! If the pics were outside you can easily make it look 1/1 scale. Love the weathered look.

You should have a job working for Mr Tamiya! Real nice truck. Is the body on the original mounts or did I read you lowered it?

2-May-2009

Behind the perfection Seth !!

Wyoming

2-May-2009

Thanks fellers, yes I have lowered it drastically, the leaf springs are sitting right on top of the axles, and the alloy body posts have all be cut down and re tapped so it sits as low as possible also the radio tray is pretty cut up so the tranny could pass through center

This is, for me, the best looking Hilux because all the details, all the work and time put into it just takes it to a level that is very, very hard to reach, at least I would never, ever manage to build something like this. Most definitely a true favourite!

mcovalsk

2-May-2009

This comes better and better yet

def4x4

2-May-2009

Those wheels and tires are looking great, but i got my ??? about shoudt they have a good grip!!

Wyoming

3-May-2009

Thanks guys, I actually ran the tires today and they grip just fine especially on rocks, they are only sold as moderate duty off road tire not a serious mudder which is exactly what I wanted. For this rig the proper scale look is far more important to me than attaining the best possible grip.

GreenMan

3-May-2009

WOW Seth, absolute stunning!!! That is an absolute high scale level, you did with your Hilux!!!!! GREAT

amigamad

3-May-2009

This is one of my favorites i never tire of seeing this .

Wyoming

3-May-2009

Thanks guys, I never tire of working on and driving it which is amazing because some trucks after the build is done they get sold after a run or two, this thing has been run at least 100 times

I can't believe it! With all that rust and dirt it really looks as if you just could get in and drive it for real.

15-Jun-2009

Dear Mr Tamiya - THIS is how the Hi-lift should have come ( minus the rust ) Awesome work. You never get tired of working on it. I never get tired of looking at it.

Truly the best hilux builds on TC. Awesome!

Daz87UK

28-Apr-2010

toykid hit the nail on the head... if it came like this i would buy one... until then... my money goes on realistic looking trucks with realistic ground clearance

Daz87UK

28-Apr-2010

p.s. it needs a headlamp glass missing with rusty chrome

Daz87UK

28-Apr-2010

p.s. my p.s. it needs 5mm 1:1 car dash clock bulbs for age realism... sod the led's

Wyoming

28-Apr-2010

Well it needs headlights to be in good repair to be road legal and the lights are just upgrades, I put modern super bright bluish/white headlights in my 1:1 69 Toyota Landcruiser when I was driving that
