1970's Baja Pics
I thought I would share these pics with you guys. They are from old 'Off-Road' magazines dating from 1973 to 1976. I'll be posting more soon. Notice the Sand Blaster Jr. tires on the first pic. Enjoy!

fantastic!! never seen the 'real' rough rider before, very close to the model. I like the way the side pods tuck under on the body of the real car

The resemblence is very striking in that first picture. Cheers, Alistair G.

Excellent stuff! Those really were the golden days of off-road racing - I'd love to have been in that part of the world when all that was happening.

Great days of racing. Its no fun today, fannying around and too much health and safety. Great pics.

CARRERA
Love the picsw! The side body looks so much better tooked in at the bottom. The Super Champ body tucks in at the bottom and looks sooo much better. Thanks for sharing.

Carrera, Thanks for noting the SC has the tuck down sides as I thought mine had warped from too much heat. Perhaps Tamiya couldn't really achieve the tuck in with the water box they put in the SRB chassis. Now that we have water resistant radio gear, we can make an RR more like this in the photos by melting the sides. I wonder WHO will do that now??? I definitely like the lite pods on the front and just in front of the driver vs the roof.

Volksrod already beat everyone to it: [Click here] he built more of a Funco replica by mixing the SC with the RR bodyset.

Last pic, at the bottom left - photo taken by Paul Neuman? Could that be THE actor? I know he was into racing...
