Lemming

Just got one of these on the weekend. Seemed OK out of the box. Hadn't realised initially that it comes without the oil filled dampers (just standard friction ones) so bit of a down side compared with the unbuilt version. Got it straight up and running after checking for loose screws! No problem at all.

I then stuck a set of ball races all round in the hubs (as the gearboxes are already ball raced) and put in an SH motor to just speed it up slightly. To be honest it is not as fast as I expected or as good in the turns. Worse problems with understeer than the Manta Ray and runs slower with the standard gearing on an SH motor than the Manta Ray. Bit worried about the plastic central driveshaft, as my other buggies all run metal ones (and those twist under power) so will keep an eye on it!

Suspension is WAY too soft for running on any firm surfaces which have any bumps. The ride height doesn't help at all, the thing bottoms out on hitting one of those wonderful black strips across the road. Will be looking at oil filled dampers soon to see what I can change. Still, it runs great on grass, and looks quite funky in orange (yes I actually quite like it!).

Basically, great for a fun reasonably cheap buggy (I paid £74 all in) but really needs a lot of work for jumping / manic club meets.
