My first hobby grade r/c was the Tamiya Madcap in the early 90's. It was a great entry level 2WD buggy but the cost of batteries and charging times were frustrating. I gave nitro a go with a Thunder Tiger Celica rally car. It was horrible, I had no idea how to tune it and get it running properly.. I came back to electric with a second Madcap.

By 1993 I wanted to try on-road. Formula One cars were cool and fast but I had nowhere suitable to drive them. My mate and I decided to buy the Nissan Skyline R32 Calsonic - Special Upgrade Edition (TA02). I put hundereds of hours into that car, from street bashing to drifting. It survived it all....only just. Sadly my Madcaps are long gone but I still have the Calsonic as a shelf queen.

Returning to the hobby as an adult, I have rediscovered my love of Tamiya.
