FINALLY, I can say I'm the proud owner of a Monster Beetle! I would have thought I would have had one of these a long time ago, but not being into VW's in a big way, I guess I just had the mindset of 'later'. I have been thinking about one of these alot lately especially after getting my sand scorcher, and also because it's really a 'must have' in the vintage big wheeled brigade. I bought this locally off another TC member on our auction site, I watched it get relisted a couple of times, and then thought, 'What the heck am I hesitating for, I know I should have one of these!' I decided not to bid on the other one listed and asked the owner of this one for some more pics, it looked pretty good apart from I thought the wheels were painted with gold paint (but turned out they were just dirty!), so when I finally got back to him I hit the nail in the coffin so to speak. Usually I make myself believe whatever I am buying to be not in good condition after a few sour deals but am happy to say I am very pleased with my buy and am proud to have it set right next to my blackfoot!

FINALLY a monster beetle! YESSSS!!!! :)

Sweet! You did the right thing, Neil. Looks as if it was just built from new! Have you got the box, too? The manual?
Anyway, if you have a Black Foot, then this one is a must. Plus, the Monster Beetle is one of the most loved truggies in the Tamiya catalogue!

Cheers guys, really stoked with it, she's definitely a looker! Sorry Erich, no box and got a photocopied manual, but I am happy nonetheless, I will have to get some pics of this and the Blackfoot together! Thank you Slimmy and Tamiyamandan! Yeah James it was from Chris, I thought about biding on the one you were after, but this looked complete, and it pretty much is. Thanks mate!

Nice. That looks real tidy fella & it has all the breakables intact still, a rare thing for MB's. Just curious, is the shell moulded in red or white ?

Thanks fellas! Russ the spotlight mounts were broken unfortunately but everything else looks good. there's quite a few new parts like body mounts, G1 brace etc. I just had a look and cant tell the shell colour as it's been painted inside aswell, it has '58060 Monster beetle' so I am happy to know it's not a re-re SS. Cheers again guys

Weird parallel here.. My first RC was an MB, and yours was a Clod. I've just got a Clod, and now you've just got an MB! And an absolutely beautiful one at that. You're a lucky fella!

Thanks guys! Steelrat, sorry to say my first tamiya was a boomerang, but you are right I am a lucky fella, I love it! Thanks Alex, aprreciate it! Andy, yeah I noticed that before I won the auction, easily fixed though. I wonder if the shell is black under the paint too? I still want to strip it and check/overhaul everything, so will make sure it's all original when I do
