Since the build of the 1850L with my son I have to admitt that building cars is boring compare to the build of a truck. Someone already said that to me some years ago. Loads of metal, technique and details, that's what's all about for me and no one item can have this level as those Tamiya trucks (maybe the tanks).I had the opportunity to buy an NIB Shell Tank traler for halt the price some time ago so I was looking for the truck and options since this time. Last week opportunity knokked and I met one of the greatest guy in my entire collector's life.We had a delicious talk and had exactly the same interests in model building.Meeting people like him is entirely part of the fun in this hobby. This will be build as almost all my items but it's for my son's birthday.Very difficult to hide such big thing :)

If you find it too hard to hide, my birthday is in April and it is my big 40th, sooo. I will follow this as I am certain most of the rest of TamiyaClub will when you and your son begin building this. I think it will be a treasured time again and then to have a working model truck to remember forever, that is even better.

They look great when finished, i even have some pictures of my brothers king hauler in my showroom. He did modify the roof of the sleeping cab. In the pictures you will also see the tank trailer from tamiya aswell. If i would buy one of these trucks it will be the MAN with the new to come out 40Ft container/trailer. I'm looking forward to see the pics of the building stages. Your son will be veeeerrryyy happy with this one. With so much bling it will be an eyecatcher. Enjoy the building and the moments to share with your son.

Ohh, nice kit. If you really, really want the most details and technical difficulty, try to do a search on the trucks produced by German ScaleArt.. Now THOSE are impressive.. Oh, and somewhat expensive, lol.. Also, for better realism when it comes to lights, sound and so on, check out the products bt another German company called Servonaut. I only use Servonaut in all my truck-builds, and have never regretted switching from the Tamiya light and multi-sets, as they are far behind the Servonaut-stuff in performance.

Another good idea is to use a slower motor than the stock one. I have found that the 65 or 75 Integy Matrix Pro motor is a good choice, with more realistic speeds, and great torque.

Cheers..
Michael
