Rico and Murph's Boomin' Rover...
Had to have a try at one of these. My goal was to keep it cheap and simple, yet I kept on messing with it. I actually tried to paint it plated gold, but the paint completely failed, and I had to strip the body! Total mess, was able to salvage it! :) Mods ----> 540 motor - Oil shocks in front - Scorcher tail lights - Axial front lights - Black styrene chassis sides to hide gap/wires - Black painted motor - Rear grab bar - Side mirrors - Modified fedora hats - 'Murph' the Passenger - Bling necklaces - and a BOOMIN' STEREO with 2 subwoofers! :D

I really like the looks of this black sandrover. The black paint looks awesome together with the silver rims. Driver and passenger is very cool and I like the details. Nice work!

The Fedora/s are awesome Very original custom and the rear SS lights are a great touch. Lets see it running in the sand/dirt!

Ready to cruise for chicks? I reckon these two look like a couple to me... 8-) Great looking buggy though... top work on the subs and the chassis sides!

I really like the black body and grey wheels combination. Love the details you put in with the lights on the hood and scorcher tail lights. The driver and passenger figures looks amazing!

Very Original! I had a 12W6 in a hot-hatch back in the day, and loved it! You've got my vote for best use of plastic kit bearings Well done!

Classic Skottoman touches here, great work....again
MadInventor
That looks great. I wish I had your patience and attention to detail. It's surprising how long it takes to add all those finishing touches though.

Are the grey stardish wheels a Tamiya part or did you paint them?
Skottoman
Thanks guys! I really was trying to keep it simple here, yet I have a hard time doing just that. The wheels are painted. Actually they were painted silver, and then when I clear coated them, they turned grey, but left the lettering on the wheels silver highlighted. Turned out pretty cool, but was not what I initially intended. Really hard to get the tires off these rims though!

That's cool! Tamiya should have released this as the 'Black Special' like yours and the colour matched wheels, JL speaker enclosures and gangsta chains awesome!

Excellent lesson in going the extra mile and making a kit your own with some individual touches. Brilliant!

All that the lads said and more!!!!Awesome!! great work! I am thinking of getting a 2010 Holiday buggy! What are these like with the spring shocks that come with the kit? It will be a full time beach runner so a smooth performance is not a must! but is it lots better with a set of oil shocks?
Nice job on your Rover and would love to see it on the beach kicking up the sand!!
Skottoman
I only had spare oil shocks for the front, and a quick drive around the street showed it now has a bouncy butt! Haha... It's not very fast, and I'll have to wait to see how it handles like this on the sand/dirt. Probably will be more fun with the front planted and the rear bouncing around!
smegs
Love the interior work nice speakers.
