3rd build of a Rising Fighter.

Just can't get my head around that a kit can be this cheap!
(approx.               £45 inc. fusion hobbies discount)

Performance wise, its near the bottom
BUT it has something that pulls you back,
for me its similar to my first Tamiya (Hornet)

This has the advantages of modern gearbox, wheels/tyres and shock options.

Upgrades include ball bearings, oil shocks and steel pinion
I have painted the shell with TS-44, brilliant blue, it makes a nice subtle difference!

UPDATE 22/08/14
Upgraded steering arms have bent but now straightened out!
Thread locked servo saver ball connectors because they were coming loose
Alloy rear hex hubs have worn because of over 10 hours of tarmac use, taped them to reduce slop

UPDATE 27/10/14
Rear tyres bald, wing cracked at mount and one of the front bumper mounts broken!
Front shock oil gone so needs refilling......new pics are up!

UPDATE 01/01/2015
With the start of a new year, it seems sadly that the Rising Fighter has been discontinued!

UPDATE 04/03/2015
Seems to have come back! But for how long?

UPDATE 01/10/2015
Two years and the front tyres have eventually given up!
After an hour of driving one front tyre split, replaced both fronts
Replacing the gearbox mount springs (one had broken) and noticed the chassis mount had split!
Arrrgghhh, out with the epoxy, next time I ll swap the chassis (see pic two)
Oil shocks given strip and clean while it's on the bench

UPDATE 20/11/2015
Took the RF for a run with Aqroshot wheels and tyres on the rear, it was raining
It was very stable but control was a small issue in the wet!

UPDATE 18/12/2015
Pintopower's rear shock mounting mod arrived from shapeways today, installed straight away!
Installed using 4x 12mm self tappers, 2x 3mm washers, 2x 15mm self tappers and 2x brass flange tubes
Ordered a set in blue polished ABS
(Similar to Super Hornet rear setup)

UPDATE 23/01/2016
Wow, with the new rear mod installed it drives like a different buggy
So I call this a Rising Fighter 2!

UPDATE 12/12/2016
Installed new rear wheels and tyres
Cleaned up shocks and installed stiffer springs on front
Friction welded wing cracks

UPDATE 06/10/2018
New current pictures, showing stiffer DF03 gold springs on front
Still need to replace the chassis at some point from split I noticed in 2015

UPDATE 22/05/2020
After nearly five years the second set of front tyres have split, I have swapped the front wheels, left to right, to give them a little more running time. Picture at the end

UPDATE 03/10/2020
Both tyres split, chassis was already split, front bumper attachment is broken and repaired, steering and tracking totally out.....So it was either retire or rebuild......
Found a spare chassis and tyres so will will do a full rebuild this time around!

UPDATE 07/10/2020
Finished rebuild with new chassis and new front tyres

UPDATE 12/11/2020
Upwards of 100+ hours of runtime over the last six years, jumping and tumbling have broken a few parts but otherwise solid throughout.

Very nice - i like these too. Yes its a basic buggy but an easy, relaxing build and the good ground clearance is actually a rarity in most buggies these days.

Have to agree...it's definitely an odd looking machine with that high COG and stinkbug stance (perhaps shorter rear shocks could help) but it's cool because of it' very Hornet-like beginner-basher appeal.

I just posted mine and my step Sons RF's up the other night, we love em and give them a good ole bashing and running about. I agree with R/CVET though because there so much like a super hornet/GHII that's why there so much fun :] really nice example you have there ;]

If this car had an Odometer, I wonder what the distance traveled would be in miles?!

Cheap and cheerful without doubt mate. 100 hours not bad at all!
I love all these solid axes buggies from tamiya I was going to sell my hopper to fund a project but backed out and kept it! love the simplicity of them and they are good fun!
