October 2013: So having decided on a pseudo-Military/Camel Trophy hybrid theme for the Nailer, I thought about how I might incorporate the latest custom Willy head I'd been working on as the driver...

Originally the idea was to create a CHP motorcycle rider helmet, but looking again it had more than a passing resemblance to the helmets worn by soldiers in desert theatre...

So I painted him up in dirty sand coloured fatigues (not being adept enough to attempt a camo pattern), and following on from Hang Loose Willy, thought it would be fun [if not slightly ironic] to have him giving a peace sign as he trundles along! note. As a nod to authenticity, the helmet netting is held in place with a strip of genuine rubber inner-tube - albeit from a mountainbike! I also ended up dabbing a dot of superglue on each knot, to help keep it in place... once behind the wheel, the overall effect looks like he has just busted out of Camp Bastion and made a break for it! Jx

Peace, man... Peace, off... Net held on with rubber inner-tube! (and glue) Show me your teeth! Behind the wheel at last! Check the map... Give them a wave... Grit your teeth... And let's get the hell out of here! Lights... Action!

Very nice WW2 project, the helmet it's very similar to the israeli army 70' uniform.
The wheels are from sand scorcher?
Ciao, fabrimtb
