Picked this up from LHS as a trade in. It has been sitting there out back for a bit and have had a look at it a couple of times as I have wanted a mid range touring car for a while and almost settled on a ta05 ifs a couple of times. The diffs were really gritty the first time I looked but one of my old workmates who does the on-road club racing thing has taken it out and obviously given it a quick service. The diffs are no longer gritty but they are starting to chirp a little on take off so will need a thorough rebuild. I see the stabilizers are missing so will buy some ta05 ones if they aren't any different. Also looking to purchase the carbon steering link, some new belts, ceramic balls for the diff's (or even the gear diffs) and a brushless setup. The body and most certainly the pink wheels (with 28 shore sweep tyres) are temporary.
Any advice from anyone familiar with the TA05 is much appreciated. :)

I used to run a TA05R at my local club. Only had a few small mods, but the drivetrain handled a Novak 3.5R brushless motor with no issues at all. Very good on low grip surfaces.

Hey Jim, yeah I think I may have read your showroom entry whilst trawling through the TA-05R member rides. Must have gone well with a 3.5R

Nice pick up Neil - i really could do with an on-road tourer car in my collection again

Yeah was plenty quick enough. The wide pitch diff pulleys that come as standard on the ta05r help make the drivetrain almost bullet proof. Only issues i had was the centre spur gear pullets used to wear at a very quick rate with high power brushless. So some alloy ones would be good or a few spare plastic ones.

Thanks Dave, yeah that was my feeling too, otherwise my only onroad was a M03 mini!
Cheers Jim, sounds like they are a pretty good unit! Will look into those centre pulleys too, thanks!
