I spotted this for sale on flea bay. The advert said it had been built and never run,so taking this with a pinch of salt i bought it. When i went to collect it and had a chat with the man,it turns out he wasn't kidding. He bought it new and after building it discovered it didn't come with servos or radio,so being a bit disappointed he put it on a shelf. Some 20 years of shelf and loft life later he had a clear out and put it on the bay. Apart from the original 360 motor and heat shrinks, there was never any radio control fitted and so is absolutely in as new condition. There is not a scratch on the chassis, and apart from the decals crinkling with age and a bit of dirt, the body is perfect. I thought he was joking when he said it had not run. The pics show it as i got it home complete with years worth of dust,so a good clean, fresh set of decals and that will be it. I think it would be wrong to run this, the first scratch on the chassis would just be criminal. the best part is,i wasn't even going to turn the computer on that day,i just thought id have a quick look before bed and saw this with a couple of minutes to go......

Ahhh, unmarked wheels.... Even bigger Ahhh, undamaged bumper... Ok,time for the tissue... Not a mark underneath Never had servos or radio gear fitted Got all shaky at the end.....

He thinks he may have the box somewhere in the loft too... I can only hope. Its easy to see why the bumpers are so easily broken on these. I have two others and they are both missing the original bumper.

Great find! Take good care of this special car. I wonder how many more of these are hidden in attics around the world. What about a worldwide Tamiya house to house search?

A house to house search sounds like a great idea RuniR. When you consider Tamiya must have sold tens of thousands of RC models, the odds are there are still quite a few originals out there waiting to be discovered. Perhaps we should start a national campaign in the press asking people to check!
