Bought this on ebay after seeing a topic about it on here. It has to be one of the most well-preserved and original SC´s I have ever seen. Apart from the 2 left side front arms, everything is in excellent condition, all screws are the original ones, and there is only missing 1 brass screw for the MSC-servomount. It even came with a spare rear bumper, even thought the one on the car is excellent. :)
This is being dismantled, cleaned and rebuilt, using the original radiosystem, and the msc setup. I won´t even have to replace the wheels and tyres on this one, just give them a good clean. Also, there is no wear to the uni-joints, and all the axles in the front suspension are straight as arrows. ;) Puzzled about the rear bumper though, as it does not look homemade, and fits perfectly to the original bumper?.

What a great find this looks a nice easy fun resto to enjoy buddy!😀

Are the tyres that good after all those years, no flat spot? Result if so! Body looks in great condition too but is it fitting ok? and like you said the car in general looks in great if dirty shape!
A good strip clean will bring it back to life!
Repaint the shell....got to be box art blue or red😀 and job done! Have you put power though the vintage electronics to see its working? Bonus if all thats working too? This project is a bit like my Rough Rider that I have done this year! That was a diamond in the rough!😀

The Super Champ is classic! Have fun with this😉
Cheers mate.

Cheers.. The body does indeed fit.. I just did not mount it properly on the chassis. (And it has suffered a bit from the old paint, unfortunately, so far from perfect.. Now repainted in Humbrol Light Blue. ) I expect the radiogear to work flawlessly, as they are not easy to kill, and judging by the rest of the car, it has not seen much use. Just need to replace the battery-holder, as it is badly corroded (The batteries were still in, lol). The rear tyres do have very slight flat spots, but nothing too bad. The gearbox and motor were VERY tightly sealed with silicone, and hard to disassemble, but the motor loks like a brandnew one still!.
I am pretty intruiged by the rear bumper, as it looks purpose-made, yet not homemade? It fits perfectly, so I wonder if it is some kind of vintage hop-up thing??

Wow, what a time capsule, PAINTED RADIO GEAR?? ?That is odd, I suppose it helped to ID it if it flew out of the car in a massive crash. I think the rear bumper looks awesome, would love to have one. If memory serves as far as the USA is considered, only a few folks were really trying to make parts to fit on these cars. OF course this one being the last in the SRB line, could be a few players came out late. RCH and RacePrep made some interesting hop ups at the time, wonder if that is a RacePrep rear bumper as I agree with you, looks awefully nice to be homemade.

Cheers, Crash.. Actually, the colour on the parts seems to be dried-up balloons, and not paint. They´re pretty hard to remove, but I´m still in the process of doing so..
And yes, that rear bumper IS pretty neat. I would love to find out more about it .

Hi gozone, your Champ looks like a great find! Thought that you may like to know that the dried up balloons is 100% accurate, think they were factory supplied weather proofing. I remember mine having them too.

That is a great to find one not modified except for the nice rear bumper. Looking forward after the lean up.. Found a similar unrestored champ quite a while ago that i haven't posted yet. Too many projects it just sat on the shelf haven't even cleaned it yet... What color are you going to paint it?

Oh, but the original bumper just sits behind this wide thing. AND, the sale also included a spare, brandnew bumper. It has been painted now, Humbrol Light Blue, with red rollbar.
