Sometimes you just have a little bit of luck. Earlier this year I had an unexpected tax refund. Most of it went towards redecorating my kids' bedroom but there was a bit left. Then this popped up on ebay, not cheap but not extortionate either. I made an offer which was accepted and suddenly I was the owner of an original Wheeler!

I have a history with these cars. Back in the day, I wanted a Wild Willy M38. I saved and saved, but couldn't find one so I bought a Wheeler instead. And loved it! And ran it to death! So a replacement was overdue...

This one isn't perfect, but it's nice. The chassis is in good condition but has a few little marks and scuffs. The wheels and tyres weren't great so they've been replaced.

The body was very heavily painted, to the point where some of the detail was obliterated. Once the paint was removed I could see why - the body was quite scratched up, looks like over zealous sanding. The old paint seems to have attacked the body in places too so some minor repairs were needed but I couldn't salvage the side markers.

So here it is. I decided against box art so I could run it without panicking! I've fitted a basic light set so it has front and rear lights. It still needs a few bits and pieces - front bumpers and wheelie bar/springs. The wheelie bar bits will probably be affordable, the front bumper probably not! But I can live with that.

Basically I'm so happy to have one of these again! Hope you like it too.
