The Kyosho salute was released in the late 1980's and did not sale well to its body design but this is why it's becoming one of the most sort after Kyosho models and will soon hit the £400 mark...
This example came up on eBay along with the scorpion I was very lucky to win both cars. This salute was in the auction minus tyres and wheels and without the body shell. After careful observation of the pics this was a super rare condition model. It is equipped with period futaba receiver and servo plus the JR esc. When I got down to checking it over in detail I discovered that there was no wear what so ever on the drive shafts thus backing my original observation being it was a built but not ran model. It has the original hop up gold side rails and motor gard from the option house accessories from the same period. It is also fitted with the 480 Kyosho wt motor, hard to find. The car had a strip down and brush out and wash then reassembled. I sourced an original body set with decals from the USA along with an original wheel set. The tyres are a reproduction set from a fellow TC member as a extra touch I replaced the original wheel nuts with a proline set of knock off nuts from the 80's. I have seen several Kyosho salute's turn up on eBay and creeping closer and closer to the £400 mark. This car has increased in value quicker than any other RC model. Its a very hard model to find and after several years of being out bid on several salute's I have finally found the perfect example and is becoming one of the most sort after optima based models available. At the moment the body will be left unpainted and more than likely will stay that way just for the rarity.
The Kyosho salute increasing in value and ganing more and more attention by collectors, a top ten RC vintage model.

With the rerelease of the Optima I personally thought I would see a rush of vintage optima's apear on the second hand seen. That hasn't really happened as of yet, not sure if it will some Tamiya collectors have massively overpriced there models and that is the problem, Kyosho on the other hand seem to be priced at a steady and secured rate. Take this for an example a mint and boxed vintage Optima £600 at its peak, A mint and boxed Tamiya Avante £1200 at its peak before the rerelease, so my verdict Kyosho are a better investment. So buy now before it's too late. 😀
