I purchased this kit as a birthday present to myself back in November 2014. The chassis construction was fairly simple, painting the body took much longer. All in all, seems like a OK vehicle, still have not installed electronics in it to make it a 'runner'.

I disassembled the factory built axles, transmission, and transfer case, cleaned the old grease out, and greased all the gears with molybdenum grease. All fasteners that installed into metal were coated with blue Loc-Titie.

Painting the body took much longer then chassis assembly. I painted the shell with Tamiya TS4 German Grey, and the roof was painted with Tamiya TS White color, can't remember the exact number. I hand painted the flairs black with Parma FasColor paint, came out good. In hindsight, I should have masked up the body and sprayed the flairs, it would have been faster. All the window rubbers were painted with a Testors enamel paint pen, worked perfect!!! I was really dreading the window rubber painting, there are a bunch of them!!!!!!!!! I also built up/painted/installed a Tamiya driver figure.

I also built the model with the following RC4WD options:
(1) RC4WD #Z-S1194 Inner Fender Set for Defender D90 Body
(2) RC4WD #Z-S0823 XVD Axle for Ultimate Scale Yota II G2 Axle
(3) RC4WD #Z-S0824 Gellande II Steering Guard
(4) RC4WD #VVV-C0004 1/10 Land Rover Defender D90 Emblem Set
(5) RC4WD #Z-S0958 Defender D90 Window Protection Roll Cage
(6) and the following two items to make up a full size spare: RC4WD #Z-Q0023 5 Lug Wagon 1.9 Single Steel Stamped Beadlock Wheel (Black) AND RC4WD #Z-P0004 Dirt Grabber Single 1.9' All Terrain Tire

I have the following electronics to install, but this project has kind of stalled out for now:

Novak (#3535) 35T Terra Claw Motor
Traxxas (#3018RXL-5) XL5 WP ESC
Hitec HS5646 WP Servo
Futaba R153F 3 Channel FM Receiver

All in all, seems like an OK model, need to get it running, and take some better pictures. But, it just seems to be missing that extra 'Tamiya something'???

2 All built up/painted, sitting on a shelf Chassis assembled, front window glued into place Home made paint spraying booth!!!!!!!! Primed body

Looking good. Now you just need to get into some mud and crud on a trail run.

A wonderful scale build! If you're looking for that 'Tamiya' something - how about putting Willy behind the wheel? ;o)

Appreciate it guys This one is now in line behind some other project, but it will be completed one of these day. No Wild Willy driver in this one, a Bruiser driver is at the helm
