Turned out pretty well!
Restored this original #58098 Ferrari F40. There's also a rerelease with a finished body, kit #58356 (Tamiya calls it 'limited edition', lol! 😂) but I'm not into rereleases as you may know already! 😇
The body had a respray as it was in a bad state, stains and spots with no paint at all, also had to remove the sorry decals and added new ones.
Extra details: headlights are black decals on which I painted 'lights' otherwise it looks quite dull. Added some lines to highlight the main headlights. Vents on the left and right backside are also decals. Added 5mm spacers to the rear wheels to give it better stance.
Polished the whole body, now it shines like it should.
This was fun! 😁

Nice touch with the red body posts. For second I thought you had a body with no holes.

Oh that is sexy and the stance is perfect. I hadn't realized the rear wheels were held on with screws and not nuts!! I wonder, has anyone sprayed just decals with the PS55 matte finish to dull the black detail decals down a tad??
DeeMiller
Indeed, the wheels have two spacers per wheel due to the screws!
PS you can use the matt lacker of Revell, works perfect!
Check my Taisan Porsche or Subaru Impreza. I started doing that on those models.

Looks really nice Dee,, getting hard to find the F40's anymore....... old ones or re-re's.
DeeMiller
So true.
I think the Group C cars are getting more and more appreciation and therefore becoming harder to get! Original or re-re's! Anyway, thx for the appreciation of mine! 😜

Looks very nice.
I used to have this kit.
Liked the body, but I do not like how Tamiya does foam tires on most their rear wheel drives back in the days. I hate foam! I should have kept it and found a rubber substitute. Oh well.

Foam does degrade IronSights, but I wonder if the F1 series rubber tires now fit these wheels??
