lady luck on my side!!! really!
Yep,,the eagle has landed. I found this on eBay and actually won a bid for a change without breaking the bank even with stiff bidding competition. What a great seller too, answered my questions and was extremely polite about the tracking number, updates on when it would ship out, etc...
It showed up today...I've built three of these so far in the last decade. I sold my first one on TC, blue with white stripes (which was mint) back in 2007. I always built mine from parts in the past, hunting for the cool trim and specific body hardware which was tough but a lot easier to find 10 years ago. Most recently I brought one back from the dead- it was a really damaged shell. I've used wheelbase- lengthened TA02 chassis, stock Mantis 2WD, and Associated TC3 chassis (fastest and smoothest). Had a chance to buy one of these NIB in 1997 when I lived in Minnesota and passed on it... Well, good things come to those who wait. Really excited to actually own this kit!! So, one of the reasons I love the Cobra so much, besides being a great story about AC and also of Carroll Shelby's early career as a business man and ex-racer is that my Dad used to own a full size Factory Five Shelby Cobra kit. He really loved the car as well but unfortunately sold it in 2006 unfinished, due to lack of funds to finish it :-( So if I build this 'little one' it will be for him, not me.
Not sure if I will build this quite yet as I have lots of other projects to finish first including a Porsche 906 Nostalgic resto using a slightly modified Mantis 2WD Kyosho chassis. Also would like to finish the 1967 HPI Corvette placed on top of a hopped up Associated Dual Sport. After that I might finish a CC-01 project and then I will decide whether or not to build this....... Thanks for looking.

WOW, what a story Steve. It is great that you actually have one NIB in the box with all the goodies attached. I don't mean to press, but Father's Day is coming in June....just saying. I hear ya on the projects, they all sound very promising to look at when they are done. I think that I drooled over a Factory Five kit in the back of all the car magazines in the mid to late 80's in my teenage dream state when I was going to get my license.
